If you want to prevent fatal overdoses from occurring here are some tips:
A) People who use drugs in the community, our loved ones, friends, and coworkers, etc, they are the new first responders. Say it again:
PEOPLE WHO USE DRUGS ARE THE NEW FIRST RESPONDERS
After good ol' Ashley Moody and the rest of the fellow snakes in the grass put in place murder indictments for even "indirectly" having an involvement with a situation in which a person used drugs and died (eradicating the 911 Good SamaritanAct), people are so scared to call 911 that people are being ditched on the side of the road, in hospital entry ways, all things that do not include calling 911 because of this murder charge risk, even if they were not the dealer they were just in the recent text messages.
So in response, our beloved community of PWUD are having to go it alone, so theu a4e amping up the outreach, trainings, and distributing naloxone and sterile supplies.
That being said, an important key to our collective race to out-maneuvre the epidemic is to always maintain a trusting relationship with PWUD, and open communication every single day because this is changing every single day. If someone overdosed, what symptoms were occurring? Were there any new symptoms identified for the first time? How many doses of naloxone were needed to revive the person? More or less than usual? What kinds of drugs were being used in the Overdose?
We need to keep our collective finger on the pulse of any new information and share everything you can with as many people/organizations possible.
Here is a link to an anonymous, encrypted Overdose Reversal Reporting Form I created that you can utilize to provide the kine of information I described discreetly, and potentially save future lives.
