Noemi’s journey from experiencing homelessness as a young mother to creating CJK Community Homes continues to inspire our work. She leads with lived experience, compassion, and a commitment to making sure people feel seen, supported, and connected to opportunity.

This recognition also reflects the incredible work of our staff, board, partners, supporters, and the individuals and families who trust CJK to walk alongside them.

We’re also proud that Noemi and fellow honoree Marguerite are both American Leadership Forum fellows (ALF) another meaningful connection between women leading with purpose and strengthening our community.

What a beautiful celebration of culture, community, and connection at the WCCW AANHPI Cultural Event! 🌺

A special thank-you to Deputy Mayor Joe Bushnell, Port Commissioner Kristin Ang, Councilmember Naomi Wilson, and Councilmember Bryan Yambe for showing up, spending time with the women, and helping make them feel seen and supported.

We are also grateful to Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland, Pierce County Executive Ryan Mello, Councilmember Robyn Denson, and Senator Deborah Krishnadasan for sending thoughtful letters of support that were shared during the celebration.

Your presence and words meant so much to the women.

Thank you for recognizing their hard work, honoring their cultures, and reminding them that they are still an important part of our community.

We also want to recognize the incredible women at WCCW, the HOPE Program team, volunteers, staff at Washington State Corrections and everyone who worked so hard to bring this event together. Our roots truly do run deep! 💙🌺

Last week, we welcomed an unhoused single mom and her child into one of our shared homes.

Our team worked hard to make sure they had what they needed to begin this new journey; beds, towels, personal hygiene items, and the basic essentials that help make a house feel like home.

We are grateful for a team that shows up with compassion, dedication, and heart. They stayed late to make sure this family felt supported and welcomed.

This is why we do this work.

Housing is more than a roof. It is hope, stability, dignity, and a new beginning.

Last night, we celebrated our young adults who completed Rewrite Your Rhythm Cohort-12 weeks of storytelling, self-discovery and finding the courage to share their voices.

This program was made possible with support from the City of Tacoma and Pierce County.

Thank you to Jonathan Jackson, our facilitator, for pouring into each participant and reminding them that every story matters.

Thank you also to Aimee for opening her doors and allowing us to use her beautiful space for such a meaningful celebration.

Big news for our community. 🏡

Our founder, Noemi Cagatin-Porter, has been selected for the 2026 Housing Accelerator Fellowship with LISC Puget Sound in partnership with Amazon.

This isn’t just a title. This is 18 months of real work, training, partnerships, and access to resources that move projects from vision to construction.

Across the region, this cohort is advancing over 2,400 affordable homes. And with Washington needing more than 1 million new homes, this work matters.
We’re proud of Noemi, not just for being selected, but for what she’s bringing back to Pierce County.

At CJK Community Homes, we’ve supported hundreds of individuals and families on their journey from crisis to stability. Now, we’re building on that foundation.

Building is where we’re headed. As Noemi brings this experience back to our community, CJK Community Homes is stepping into development, focused on ADA-accessible homes that meet the needs of our community, especially those too often overlooked.

We’re not here to just talk about housing. We’re here to build what our communities actually need.

And we’re seeing it…They’re more comfortable. They’re opening up. They’re starting to share, really share. The trust is building and you can really FEEL it.

They’re not just writing anymore…they’re rewriting their story.

Meet Arnold, owner of Built by Ano LLC.

He was part of our Commerce-funded Young Adult Financial Literacy Cohort back in 2024…and since then, he’s been moving.

Graduated college. Started his own car dealership. And still choosing to stay connected and grow.

He’s now part of our Storytelling Cohort, facilitated by Jonathan Jackson (Karima) and funded by Pierce County…continuing to pour into himself and the community.

At CJK Community Homes, we don’t just support in the moment… we stay connected.

We purchased this vehicle to help provide transportation for our clients, and now Arnold is part of that support.

That’s what this work is about.

Real growth. Real impact. Full circle.
