Today is Native Nonprofit Day, and we honor the Indigenous-led organizations, grassroots leaders, educators, artists, farmers, knowledge keepers, and community members doing the work every single day to protect our cultures, lands, waters, foods, languages, and future generations.

At Seven Generations United Association (SGUA), we believe healing and sovereignty begin with reconnecting to community, traditional ecological knowledge, food systems, and the responsibility we carry to future generations. From Indigenous food sovereignty and cultural education to youth engagement, environmental stewardship, and community organizing, our work is rooted in creating spaces where Native voices are supported, visible, and empowered.

As a small Indigenous women-led nonprofit, every share, donation, partnership, volunteer hour, and word of encouragement helps us continue this work. Thank you to everyone who has stood beside us, attended our events, donated supplies, shared opportunities, and believed in our vision.

We are still building. We are still planting seeds. And we are just getting started.

Sometimes the teachings aren’t spoken… they’re felt. 🦋

Out on the land, I came across this being and just stopped.
No rushing. No taking. Just presence.

It could have flown away at any moment…
but it stayed.

And in that stillness, there was connection—
a quiet understanding between two beings sharing the same space, the same breath, the same moment.

This is part of Traditional Ecological Knowledge too.
Not just what we gather…
but how we relate.

The land, the plants, the animals—
they all carry spirit, energy, and story.
And when we slow down enough…
they meet us there.

Grateful for these moments of reminder—
that we are not separate from nature…
we are in relationship with it. 🌿 Diosa Hall

🌱 These wild leeks (ramps) aren’t just food… they’re relatives.

When we harvest, we don’t take—we listen.
When we transplant, we don’t move plants—we give them a chance to thrive for the next seven generations.

Today I’m gently relocating these leeks so they have space, light, and a future.
This is what land stewardship looks like. This is what our ancestors taught us.

If we don’t tend the land, we lose more than plants—we lose knowledge, culture, and connection.

I’m doing my part so the next generation can still walk these woods and find food, medicine, and identity waiting for them. 🌿
