When youth age out of foster care, they enter adulthood without a safety net. This transition can come with housing instability, limited access to higher education, employment gaps, and mental health challenges. Providing support through mentoring, stable housing, educational and career opportunities, healthcare, and ongoing emotional guidance , helps them build independence with a safety net.

Why it matters:
- Reduces risk of homelessness and poverty.
- Improves educational and career outcomes.
- Promotes mental and physical wellbeing.
- Strengthens communities by unlocking the potential of resilient, capable young adults.

What you can do:
- Mentor or volunteer with local youth programs.
- Advocate for policies that extend support beyond age 18.
- Support housing first initiatives and access to affordable housing.
- Sponsor scholarships or internships and help with job readiness.
- Listen, validate their experiences, and connect them to trusted resources.

Every act of guidance, stability, and opportunity can turn a fragile transition into a pathway toward thriving adulthood.
