We’re creating something new, and we want your pup to be part of it!

The **inaugural Mutt Strut 2027 Calendar** will celebrate the amazing dogs in our community — each with their own personality, adventures, and stories to share. We’re looking for 12 special pups to be featured throughout the calendar!

All submitted pups will also be included in a special community collage featured in the calendar.

Whether your best friend is a hardworking ranch dog, a hiking buddy, a water-loving goofball, a loyal companion, or the king or queen of cozy naps, we want to see them! 🐶

Have more than one dog? We’d love to meet them all! Please submit a separate entry for each pup.

🐾 RESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP BASICS: CRATE TRAINING 🐾

Is crate training cruel? When it’s done correctly, the answer is no. A crate should never be used as punishment or a place where a dog spends the entire day. Instead, it can become a comfortable, secure space for resting, traveling and staying safe.

The key is to make crate training positive and gradual:

✅ Choose a crate large enough for your dog to stand, turn around and lie down comfortably.
✅ Use treats, meals, praise and safe toys to create positive associations.
✅ Begin with short sessions and slowly increase the time.
✅ Provide regular bathroom breaks, exercise, enrichment and plenty of time with you.
❌ Never force your dog inside or send them to the crate as punishment.

Watch your dog’s behavior throughout the process. Heavy panting, drooling, frantic escape attempts, nonstop vocalizing or panic may mean the crate is causing distress and a different approach is needed.

A crate is a training and safety tool—not a substitute for care, exercise or companionship. ❤️

The Second Annual Mutt Strut 5K was a success! We had typical Western Kansas windy weather but the sun was out. We loved seeing everybody get out moving and grooving with lots of tail wagging. Thank you to our amazing sponsors, there is no way we would be able to give away such great raffle baskets prizes without your support. Thanks again to everyone that came and ran, walked, or rolled in an effort to raise money for spay and neuter. 🦴🐾

¡La segunda edición anual de la carrera 5K "Mutt Strut" fue todo un éxito! Tuvimos el clima ventoso tan característico del oeste de Kansas, pero el sol brilló con fuerza. Nos encantó ver a todos salir a moverse y disfrutar del ritmo, ¡con muchísimos rabos moviéndose de alegría! Gracias a nuestros increíbles patrocinadores; de ninguna manera habríamos podido ofrecer premios de rifa tan fantásticos sin su apoyo. Un agradecimiento más a todos los que asistieron —ya fuera corriendo, caminando o desplazándose en silla de ruedas— en un esfuerzo por recaudar fondos para programas de esterilización y castración. 🦴🐾
