SOFSA is a network of changemakers dedicated to reshaping our region's food system.

We cultivate connection, collaboration, and coordination towards a more just and sustainable food future in Syracuse, Onondaga County, and Onondaga Nation.

Come dream with us! Over 30 local food system leaders will join us in the afternoon to explore food system issues and how we imagine transforming them by 2050. A series of conversations that will shape local advocacy, where YOUR input is critical.

Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Food Justice Gathering.

For many in Onondaga County without access to personal vehicles, getting food can be a long, expensive, and dangerous affair. But it doesn't have to be that way. From new bus routes to safer street crossings, we have the power to change our transportation system to make getting to food easier for everyone. Join local organizers, researchers, and planners to explore some solutions and co-create on a way forward.

At the Food Justice Gathering, Saturday, October 17.

Ok you got us it's another Urban Garden Tour throwback because we had a blast and want to share!

In the afternoon, we got to see more chickens, go on a medicinal herb walk at one of Alchemical Nursery's permaculture gardens, and be gobsmacked by the incredible ways New Americans on the Northside are growing cultural foods in small spaces. A SECOND potluck closed out the day in sweet celebration. Yes to growing and eating food together!

Syracuse Mayor Sharon Owens and NYS Ag and Markets Commissioner Richard Ball are joining us for lunch at the Food Justice Gathering on October 17. Come hear their remarks, then stay to connect with local candidates on food system issues that matter to you.
