The Bill (S.7638B / A.8091B) just passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in the New York State legislature!! 🎉Now we just need Governor Kathy Hochul Hochul to sign off on it.

At a time when New York farms are facing rising costs, climate pressures, supply chain instability, and the loss of support from federal programs, this bill opens new pathways for local producers to access stable institutional markets in their own communities. New York can’t afford to award contracts to the lowest bidder at the expense of farmers and workers in our communities. We are thrilled to see this legislation headed back to Kathy Hochul’s desk.

Do you ever look back at your year and go "Wait, I did that?" That's what we're experiencing.

2025 was a hard year, and yet we still managed to bring people together in incredible ways. From salmon rescues to elected official briefings to new art installations and an incredible Food Justice Gathering, we are blown away by what we were able to accomplish by staying nimble and responsive to the moment.

Go check out what we got up to in 2025 in our new Impact Report, and then mobilize that inspiration to join us in growing the movement at syrfoodalliance.org/grow.

Students win advocacy campaign! 🎉

After months of students and parents engaging them, the Fayetteville-Manlius School District finally announced it will adopt the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs district-wide for the 2026-2027 school year – making free breakfast and lunch available to every F-M student regardless of income!!!

This is a huge win for the F-M High School, which was the only school in Onondaga County not participating in Universal School Meals since the governor funded the statewide program in 2025.

It's no question that kids deserve access to food. But policy decisions and their implementation play a huge role in whether that access is made possible. Thank you to all the students, parents, and community members that participated in this effort, and to F-M Superintendent Parvey, members of the Board of Education, and Director Borszewski for standing with students and making this program possible.
