Uplift Travel Foundation

Uplift Travel Foundation We have always believed in the power of travel — not simply for the joy of connection, but as a driver of internal change and creating good in the world.

We organize travel with purpose and seek sustainable solutions to locally identified problems.

Arriving to a gift as you start your safari is not just good promotion. The Maasai Shuka makes the perfect wrap for chilly mornings and evenings, and the Uplift Travel water bottle is engraved with each traveler’s name—fun but practical with guests often rotating between vehicles.

We supported the Warm Hearts Foundation in funding pads for this joyful Kibera project and bringing our student travelers to join the Kenyan students in making presentations and dispelling material myths. Powerful connections were made!

It’s a wild, wild world — and this photo-artist blend captures that harmony between art and nature we might wish were reality across the world. Read Kim Schneider’s short reflection on the creative choices behind this composite and the conversations it’s sparked among photographers, journalists and conservationists. https://wix.to/vtWkS8O

I've been having a fascinating discussion this week with photographers, fellow journalists and conservationists about the image above. It's meant to be art--not an actual photograph but a composite of two photos shot on the same exact spot at different times. It's hard to image how long it took phot...

Looking forward to being researchers for a day with this project in a couple of weeks. We love facilitating hands-on opportunities for our travelers and not just viewing wildlife but making a difference where we can.

Here’s another look at an October trip we are especially excited about for the way it allows a more slow travel approach to immersion with the people and incredible wildlife of Kenya’s Maasai Mara. You’ll see and be part of the ways we’ve been supporting the most marginalized (and conservation) in this place of cultural and environmental richness that’s like nowhere else on earth. Plus, you only need to take a week off work!

One of our key missions as we seek to lift up women and girls is reducing the stigma around menstruation and on a practical level provide the reusable pads that let girls stay in school, women go to work. The girls we meet continually inspire and none more than this daughter of our Padmad founder/partner Madhvi Dalal. In person, too, Neeyati is a delight. So worth the time to watch her short teen TED talk. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4p9bVKBRJcE&fbclid=IwRlRTSARXGRFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEemlmlL8ziRXRu8CuIRqJeWP_zkMy13yX3ZfJ4PNvsPrC5kBgvxp84cuy2TV4_aem__NvN2kiRuwz3JH7BYXllqg

The horns might be a deterrent anyway, but don’t try to lift a water buffalo. Your back will never be the same. :)

The Heavyweights: 9 Largest Bovids

From Arctic peaks to tropical swamps, these giants represent the peak of physical power in the bovid family.

• Gaur: The King. The world’s largest wild bovine, weighing up to 1,500 kg. A muscular titan of the Indian forests.

• Wild Water Buffalo: The Swamp Titan. Massive, aggressive, and equipped with the widest horn span of any living bovid.

• American Bison: The Plains Icon. North America’s largest land mammal; a 1,000 kg powerhouse built for the cold.

• Wild Yak: The High-Altitude Tank. Specialized for the Himalayas; survives in the "Death Zone" with a thick, shaggy coat.

• African Buffalo: The Black Death. Famed for its "boss" (fused horn helmet) and its dangerous, unpredictable temperament.

• European Bison: The Forest King. Taller and leaner than the American species; a success story of European conservation.

• Giant Eland: World’s Largest Antelope. A massive African herbivore that can jump 1.5m high despite its 900 kg frame.

• Banteng: The SE Asian Ox. Sleek and agile with a distinctive "white stocking" look on its legs.

• Greater Kudu: The Spiral Sentinel. Known for its majestic 1.8m spiraled horns—the longest in the antelope world.

- In 2026, these giants remain vital "ecosystem engineers." Whether tilling the plains or grazing the highlands, their raw strength is the pulse of the wilderness.
