This week was a big milestone for Rowan as he officially started his public access training.

On Monday, we visited several stores to begin introducing him to the sights, sounds, and distractions that come with working in public. Then yesterday, Rowan joined us for lunch and did an amazing job.

One of the most important things we look for during public access training isn't flashy obedience—it's the ability to settle, relax, and be present in different environments. Rowan showed us exactly that. Whether he was walking through stores, sitting patiently at the table, or relaxing under it while we ate, he handled himself like a pro.

He still has some training ahead of him, and that's completely normal. Every outing is another opportunity to learn and grow. But we are incredibly happy with the progress he is making and the confidence he is building with each experience.

Watching a shelter dog begin this journey and grow into a future service dog never gets old. Rowan is showing us more and more every day that he has what it takes, and we know that when the time comes, he will be ready to make a life-changing difference for his veteran.

Meet Nova 💜🐾

Formerly known as Nora, Nova is the newest dog entering the program here at Walking With Honor through the amazing team at For Love of Dog Rottweiler Rescue.

The name “Nova” means new star — something bright born after darkness. In space, a nova happens when a star suddenly shines with incredible light after being overlooked or unseen. And honestly… that meaning could not fit our mission any better.

At Walking With Honor, we believe both dogs and veterans deserve a second chance to shine. So many of the dogs that come into our program have been overlooked, misunderstood, or simply waiting for someone to believe in them. The same can often be said for the veterans we serve after coming home carrying battles most people cannot see.

Nova also has vitiligo, a condition that causes loss of pigment in parts of her skin and fur. To us, it makes her even more special. Her markings are a reminder that different does not mean broken. Sometimes the things that make us stand out are the exact things that make us beautiful.

Her name is a reminder of hope, resilience, and new beginnings. A reminder that even after hardship, something beautiful and powerful can still emerge.

We are so excited to welcome this sweet girl into the WWH family and cannot wait to watch her journey unfold. 🖤🤎✨

Some days remind us exactly why we started this journey.

Today, Haven and Savannah officially became a team.

There is still training ahead, lessons to learn, and milestones yet to reach, but from this day forward, they will walk that path together.

A rescued dog who was given a second chance. A veteran who trusted us with a piece of their future. Two lives coming together because people believed in what was possible.

Moments like this don't happen by accident.

They happen because organizations like For the Love of Dog - Rottweiler Rescue of NH refuse to give up on dogs that deserve a chance. They happen because Annie's Angels Memorial Fund continues to believe in our mission and the veterans we serve. They happen because a community comes together and chooses to make a difference.

Today was a major milestone for Walking With Honor.

We watched Haven take the next step in becoming the partner Savannah deserves. We watched a connection that has been growing finally become something official. And we were reminded that every early morning, every training session, every challenge, and every victory along the way is worth it.

For our founder, today carried an even deeper meaning.

Walking With Honor was built because of a dog named Honor. A dog whose impact changed a life and inspired a mission. Today, as Haven began this next chapter with Savannah, there was no way not to think about where this all started.

Honor's legacy was never just about one dog.

It was about creating more moments like this.

More veterans finding hope.More rescue dogs finding purpose.More lives being changed.

Today, because of that legacy, another team began their journey together.

And we have no doubt that somewhere, Honor is smiling.

Congratulations, Haven and Savannah.
