Officer Rob Pitts Memorial Scholarship

Good evening everyone. We are back with another update on the Officer Rob Pitts Memorial Scholarship. We have been pretty quiet the last couple years with not many updates. At this time we do not have any plans to have a scholarship fundraiser this year. We are hopeful that we are able to host another fundraiser soon so we can continue to honor Officer Pitts and help future college students with the costs of their college education.

Unfortunately, this past year we did not have any applicants for the Officer Rob Pitts Memorial Scholarship. And to date we have only have 1 applicant. After some discussion among the family, we have decided to work with the Wabash Valley Community Foundation to change the scholarship criteria.

The current criteria was set to provide scholarships to:

Upper-class college students or students studying law enforcement, criminal justice, or homeland security and whose residence is in Clay, Sullivan, Vermillion or Vigo counties in Indiana.

The new criteria for being eligible will be to provide scholarships to:

Children and/or step children of law enforcement officers in Clay, Sullivan, Vermillion or Vigo counties in Indiana.

We feel that the best way to continue honoring our Hero, Officer Rob Pitts, is to directly help the families of our Law Enforcement Officers by providing scholarships for their children.

When we get a final confirmation that the criteria has been changed and when applications can be turned in we will post an update.

This year's Run For Rob event will be on May 7th at the Sullivan City Park. There will be a 5k run, 1.96 mile walk, 4 person team workout, kids fun run, as well as a Virtual Participantion. Last year we had 350 participants from 8 different states.

This event is separate from our prior years scholarship fundraiser. Last year we raised $11,000 and all money was donated to COPS Cycling for Survivors. This year all money raised will be donated to an organization in support of ALS. While we continue to keep Robs memory alive, we strive to find different ways of helping our community and our friends and family of Law Enforcement and we are honored to have your continued support along the way.

Run for Rob will also be accepting donations to go towards our contribution to ALS. All donations can made at any Fifth Third Bank.

The Run for Rob 196 Race is on Saturday May 7, 2022. It includes the following events: 5K, 1.96 Mile Walk, Kids Fun Run, Heroes 4 Person Team Event, and Virtual Participation.

Good afternoon everyone, we wanted to give a little update. We are sorry it has been so long since we have last posted. With covid taking control of 2020 we were left with no choice but to go without having a scholarship fundraiser. In May 2021 the Run for Rob was started will all money being donated this year to Cops Cycling for Survivors. We had an amazing turnout and the support for our current police officers and our fallen police officers continues to be strong as ever. We are happy to finally be able to announce that our very first Officer Rob Pitts Memorial Scholarship was granted this spring through the Wabash Valley Community Foundation. Here is a thank you note that we got in the mail today to show their appreciation in receiving the scholarship. We hope to give more updates soon on when we might plan to have another Scholarship Fundraiser.

Today is the day. Come join us for this great fundraiser event. We still have open spots for the 2pm Tee Time for the Golf Scramble. We will have a corn hole tournament with Registration starting at 12pm. The pulled pork dinner will begin at 11am. We have many great live and silent auction items. And we will also have raffle tickets for guns and hog.
