Last week, we got in the September spirit with our friends at Texas Children's Cancer Center outpatient clinic, with our annual Let There Be GOLD Art Party! It was a multi-sensory day of making, where kids created their own bespoke hats and custom slime. Thank you to our volunteers for sharing their time and making the day extra GOLDEN.

Plant Your Wish! The Faris Foundation and Make-A-Wish partnered this September to send a special wish boost to children across the Texas Gulf and Louisiana region. Over 1,000 families received a “plant your wish” postcard and plantable seed paper, to sow as a symbol of hope in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We can't wait to see these flowers bloom! The Faris Foundation kicked off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with our 12th annual GOLD parade, celebrating and honoring children with cancer, their families, and care teams. This year's parade was the first to be held within the newly formed Kinder Children's Cancer Center, a joint venture of UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children's.

Our GOLD parades first began when Faris himself was a patient at Texas Children's Cancer Center, and he noticed the absence of gold ribbons and any recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. He questioned the hospital's leadership and decided that it was essential for children to be seen and to have the chance to shine. From Faris' keen observation and tenacious spirit, a tradition was born.
