Day 8 update.

$3,836 raised. 33 of you have stepped up. Plus Coastal Plains Relay's $1,000 for this effort.

Here's where we are:

Jeff A. is still homeless. He found a place. He's waiting on us to help him lock it in with the deposit and first month's rent. Every day this campaign falls short is another day he doesn't have a key to his own door.

Jeff P. is still trying to get his family through this month after the medical emergency cut their income in half.

Two Purple Heart veterans. Still waiting.

We're at 38% of the goal with two days left. That means we need to raise more this week than we raised in the last eight days combined.

6 June 1944: D-Day

Eighty-two years ago today, young men climbed down rope nets into landing craft off the coast of Normandy.

Most had never seen combat. Many were barely out of high school. They knew the odds. They went anyway.

By the end of June 6, 1944, thousands lay on those beaches. Omaha. Utah. Gold. Juno. Sword. Names that mean nothing until you know what happened there. And then they mean everything.

The ones who made it off the sand kept going. Through hedgerows. Through villages. Through a winter in the Ardennes nobody saw coming. They freed a continent and came home and mostly didn’t talk about it.

We owe them more than a Facebook post. But today, a post is what we have. So we say their names when we can. We listen when the few who are left want to talk. We remember that freedom was paid for in full, by teenagers, on a cold gray morning a long time ago.

To the men of D-Day. We remember. We are grateful. We will not forget.

Day 3 update.

We just crossed $3,177 raised for Jeff A. and Jeff P.

A big piece of that came from Coastal Plains Relay! CPR named Operation Patriot Packs as their beneficiary and raised over $1,000 for us! That money is going straight into this campaign.

Special thanks to Justin Alford (F3: Seagal) for organizing it and for putting our two Purple Heart veterans front and center for his runners and donors.

This is what it looks like when a community shows up. One neighbor with a check. One relay event.

🇺🇸 Shane Light brought it all to our Memorial Day Carnival this year.

BBQ and Shane Light Realty came in as a White Tier Sponsor. And Shane didn't stop there. He showed up with BBQ for the whole event, making sure every single person who came out to support our veterans got fed.

That's not just a sponsorship. That's somebody who cares.

Because of Shane and his team, we are able to pack more packages and get more direct financial aid to veterans who need it. Every dollar raised at that carnival went further because Shane covered the food.

We are proud to have him in our corner. Grateful doesn't cover it.

Eric and the RSpeed team came in as a White Tier Sponsor for our Memorial Day Carnival this year. That means more care packages packed and more direct financial aid in the hands of veterans who need it most.

Eric has also been on of our supporters from the beginning and it has meant more to us than we can express here.

Every veteran who opens a Patriot Pack this season or who receives emergency financial assistance from us knows someone showed up for them. Eric and RSpeed showed up.

We need your help!.

Two Purple Heart veterans in Houston are in crisis right now.

Jeff A. served as an Army Infantryman in Iraq. He earned the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge before an honorable discharge in 2008. Today he is homeless. He has a place to live lined up. He needs $5,000 for the deposit and first month's rent to lock it in.

Jeff P. is a retired Army SSG. He took a bullet in Kirkuk in 2010 while securing his platoon. He medically retired at 100% disability and moved his family to Houston to serve other veterans. A family medical emergency just cut his household income in half.
Two men. Two real crises. One community that can do something about it.
