We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Joe Stickles of The Cape Cod Current to talk about the work we’re doing at the Adaptive Music Collaborative and especially the incredible experience we just had at the Newport Jazz Festival.

What happened in Newport was about so much more than music.

We watched children from the The Wolf Schoolwith learning differences step into a space where they were not on the sidelines, they were the celebration. They marched, played, sang, took risks, and were embraced by an entire community.

That is exactly why we created the Adaptive Music Collaborative.

None of this happens alone. I’m deeply grateful to the Newport Festivals Foundation, our partners at the URI Music Therapy Department, The Wolf School, the musicians, volunteers, families, and everyone who helped create such an extraordinary experience for these kids.

And a huge thank you to Joe Stickles at MVYRADIO for taking an interest in our story, giving me the opportunity to talk about why this work matters so much, and helping us share it with a wider community.

Please feel free to listen, share, and help us spread the word. Every person who learns about this work helps us create the next opportunity for a child to experience the joy, connection, and belonging that music can bring.

Joe also speaks with Corey Lazar, a local immigration attorney and affiliate of the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and Islands. Corey will share more about the biggest challenges immigrants and their families are facing right now, some important rights that immigrants should know about regardless of their immigration status, and information about the resources available locally.

What happened on Sunday was so much more than a parade.

The AdaptiveMusicCollaborative, in partnership with The Wolf School and the Newport Festivals Foundation, had the incredible honor of leading a Second Line parade through the Newport Jazz Festival.

Our amazing young musicians showed up with courage, joy, and heart. They dressed up, sang, marched, and reminded us all that every child deserves the chance to be seen, celebrated, and heard.

For many of these children, who have learning differences, including autism, moments like this matter. And what made it unforgettable was the way this community embraced them. Families, friends, festival staff, musicians, volunteers, and complete strangers clapped, danced, smiled, and marched alongside them. For a few beautiful moments, inclusion wasn’t just a word—it was something we all experienced together.

To our incredible kids: thank you for your bravery and for inspiring us.

To our families, partners, and everyone who made this possible: thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

This is why we do this. Music creates connection. Music builds confidence. Music creates belonging.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our very first fundraiser for Adaptive Music Collaborative at Fireseed Arts! Feeling the warmth, joy, and love of this community was truly special and memorable.

Thanks to your generosity, we are thrilled to share that we raised over $3,200.00 in donations — all going directly toward expanding music education through inclusive and adaptive access for children with autism and learning differences. You showed up, you gave, and you made a real difference.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to all the amazing bands and families who brought their music and their hearts to this event. And a big thanks to family and friends who took in various roles in helping the event run smoothly!

You turned a fundraiser into a true community celebration, and the energy you created was absolutely electric.

This is just the beginning. Together, we're building something beautiful , a world where music belongs to everyone. 💛

Recent cuts have reduced arts funding in over half of U.S. school districts. This hits students with learning disabilities hardest, yet research shows arts engagement lowers dropout rates, increases engagement, and promotes healthy community and joy. At , we bring joyful instruments into the hands of children who might never discover their gifts otherwise. Every child deserves to explore their creativity. Let’s keep music alive for all kids!
