The turn of the tide in the South! ✨

On October 7, 1780, a fierce force of frontier militia known as the "Overmountain Men" launched a surprise assault on Loyalist forces at the Battle of Kings Mountain in South Carolina. In just over an hour, these brave patriots secured a crushing victory that Thomas Jefferson later called "the turn of the tide of the success of the Revolution."

Today, the Morning Star Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution honors the rugged determination and fierce patriotism of those who fought to change the course of American history.

School custodians are the foundational anchors of a functional education system, yet their vital contributions frequently remain invisible. While teachers and administrators guide the curriculum, custodians silently build and preserve the physical foundation that makes learning possible.

For National Custodian Day, the Morning Star Chapter showed our appreciation by delivering treat bags to custodial staff at twelve area schools, including Rock County Public Schools, Ainsworth Community Schools - Bulldogs, Keya Paha County Schools, Boyd County Schools , St. Mary's Catholic School - O'Neill, NE, St. Joseph Elementary School - Atkinson, NE, West Holt Public Schools, Stuart Public School, O'Neill Elementary School, and O'Neill Junior Senior High School.

Morning Star Chapter Regent Glenda Irish delivered donated books to Boyd County Schools , last week. Elementary Principal Mindy McBride accepted the books and a binder with information about classroom grants and free school resources that the DAR has available. These resources and scholarship information were also shared with the high school in Spencer.
