During World War II, more than 1,000 courageous women answered the call to serve as Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) — flying military aircraft, ferrying planes, and even towing targets for live-fire training. These pioneering aviators broke barriers, proved their skill in the skies, and paved the way for future generations of women in aviation.

Today, the Morning Star Chapter, NSDAR proudly remembers their service, sacrifice, and spirit. Their legacy reminds us that patriotism knows no boundaries — and courage knows no gender.

We salute the WASP — the unsung heroes who soared so others could follow.

On this day in 1776, Maryland witnessed its largest Revolutionary War battle. The brave militia of St. Mary’s County stood firm against a British fleet attempting to land on St. George’s Island, protecting our shores and our fight for independence.

Their courage reminds us that freedom was won not only on famous battlefields, but also in the steadfast defense of local communities.

✨ The Morning Star Chapter honors these patriots and their enduring legacy.
