Are you still wondering “what exactly is Amateur Radio Field Day?” Or “I’ve already been to many Field Day events before”. Let’s explain how Struthers ROAR does it different 😉

-We strongly emphasize inviting the public, not just other radio operators, because that is ultimately who we serve! We want the public to see what we do, our skills, how we can assist and that we are there for them!

-Because of that, our whole Saturday morning to afternoon is for the public and families! We will have a Safety Forces day with police, fire, ambulance, SWAT, etc. this is a big hit for the kiddos, they love to see these vehicles, police dogs and our safety personnel up close!

-We will also have a fundraiser raffle to raise money for club equipment. Some of the raffle items include local restaurant gift cards, YSU football tickets, Cleveland Cavs gear, and much more!

-We have food and drink options available for purchase including the amazing Hot Diggity Dog Eatery LLC!

-Didn’t get your Struthers Rotary golf cart raffle tickets yet?! No worries - you will be able to at our event!

-Are you an amateur radio operator who is nervous to operate in a big event like this? No worries! Although we do count points, there is absolutely no pressure - our main goal is to make connections, get new people on the radio, and have fun! Don’t let the points or the “contest” portion of the event deter you - we want to give everyone a chance to get on the radio at their own pace and comfort level!

-ANYONE can operate on the radio even if you just want to give it one try! As long as a Struthers ROAR member is sitting next to you!

-GMRS operators - come on out as well! We’ve heard you on the GMRS nets and would love to meet you in person! We work with GMRS operators for all of our events.

-Have you signed up to help us with the Big Boy Train Event in July? We would love to meet you as well! 🚂

-Are you just a little curious how exactly a bunch of wires and poles in trees and fields allows us to talk around the world 🌎?

Any other questions!? Please let us know! We hope to see everyone there! ☀️ 📻
