Another shout out to Lucas, one of Strongsvilles newest Eagle Scouts . Your project to help grow food has produced again and will help us to provide fresh produce for our clients. We are blessed as a community to have so many amazing groups made up of our youngest citizens who are helping create a better future for our hometown. Lucas Micheal Garofalo of Strongsville Boy Scouts Troop 226 came to the food bank with a project that would benefit the community for years to come.
He partnered with Gardenview Horticulture park to host the site and the troop went to work.
The results were outstanding and have already produced some fresh produce we distribute in a day with more to come this season.
The raised beds are tended to by the staff and a volunteer crew from Camp Cheerful who also work at the bank once a week.
Thank you Lucas and all the scouts and families involved in making this happen .

We had an amazing time painting faces and seeing the big smiles on the faces of our youngest citizens.

This Saturday, Aug. 8, is the Strongsville Rotary's Annual Kids Fest and Duck Race at Camp Cheerful, 15000 Cheerful Lane. The free Kids Fest runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with inflatables, pony rides, touch a truck, temporary tattoos and more.

Ducks will be launched at 2 p.m. from the Camp Cheerful bridge, with prizes ranging from $5,000 to to $500 for the first five finishers. You can buy a duck -- or a flock -- here: https://strongsvilleduckrace.com/

Parking for the event is at the RTA Park-and-Ride lot off of Pearl between the Metroparks and Whitney Road. Free shuttle buses will run from the RTA Park-and-Ride lot, including handicapped parking spots and handicapped accessible buses.

For safety, there will be no public parking or vehicles at Camp Cheerful. There is no parking along Valley Parkway through the Metroparks, and the police and park rangers will be patrolling and issuing tickets.

We are so excited about the Hometown Heroes Project in Strongsville, Ohio, a community-driven tribute led by members of our City Council and the Strongsville Historical Society to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces!
