Katelyn joins Habitat after previously serving in the Financial Aid department at Ashland University—bringing valuable experience helping individuals navigate important educational and financial decisions with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail.

She joins our organization at an exciting and transformational time as Habitat of RCC continues expanding affordable housing initiatives, critical repair programming, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships throughout Richland and Crawford Counties. Inspired by Habitat’s mission of building strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter, Katelyn brings a strong heart for service and a passion for supporting the communities we serve.

In her role, Katelyn will support homeowner services, volunteer coordination, program administration, donor engagement, operations, and community outreach efforts — helping ensure our mission continues moving forward with purpose and impact.

🏡 Habitat Homeowner Applications Are Opening!

We’re excited to share that Habitat for Humanity of Richland & Crawford Counties will be accepting applications for FOUR upcoming homeownership opportunities!

Over the next 18 months, we will be building:
• 3 homes in Crawford County
• 1 home in Richland County

This is more than a home—it’s a life-changing partnership.

To qualify, applicants must:
✔ Demonstrate a need for adequate, safe housing
✔ Show the ability to pay a monthly mortgage
✔ Maintain a total debt-to-income ratio of 30% or less (monthly debt divided by monthly income)
✔ Have a combined household income between 30–80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for their county
✔ Have lived in Crawford or Richland County for at least the past 12 months
✔ Show a willingness to partner by completing 180 hours of sweat equity per adult, including helping build homes and attending homeownership education classes
✔ Demonstrate decent and responsible credit history
✔ Pass a background check for all adult household members who will live in the home

Habitat follows Ohio Fair Housing laws, and we are committed to an equitable and inclusive application process.

This is a permanent, part-time position ($20/hour) that reports directly to the Executive Director, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position for the right candidate, as our work continues to expand.

First up: We’re now accepting applications for a summer Development & Marketing Internship.

If you’re a college junior or senior looking for real, hands-on experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, event planning, and mission-driven marketing—this is your opportunity to do meaningful work that makes a lasting impact.

This is not a sit-back-and-observe role. You’ll be:
• Supporting real fundraising events (including our annual gala)
• Helping to tell the story of Habitat’s impact in our community
• Engaging with homeowners and volunteers
• Building skills that translate directly into your future career

About the position:
📍 12-week paid internship — approx. 32 hours per week

Habitat for Humanity of Richland & Crawford Counties, Inc. was chosen as one of our Spherion Community Giveback recipients by our Mansfield office.
Habitat’s mission is built on the belief that everyone deserves a safe, decent place to live, and that stable housing builds stronger families, stronger communities, and brighter futures.

Through Spherion’s involvement in Richland County's Leadership Unlimited, we had the chance to really learn what Habitat does, and it’s so much more than what many of us may have pictured. Habitat for Humanity partners with the land bank to obtain properties in need of major repair or revitalization. These homes are then fully renovated by volunteers and sold to families who qualify for affordable mortgages. The families invest “sweat equity” by helping with the build, taking homeowner classes, and truly becoming part of the process. It’s an incredible program that doesn’t just change one family’s life, it uplifts an entire neighborhood. They take a house that might be sitting empty or run down and turn it into something beautiful again. That transformation boosts morale on that street, strengthens the community, and gives a deserving family the opportunity to become homeowners for the very first time

We were very honored to welcome the Powell family home as we celebrated the official closing of our 53rd Habitat home in Richland & Crawford Counties! 🏡💛

This house represents over $150,000 of donor-funded renovations, made possible through incredible community partnerships — with notable financial and in-kind support from the Richland County Land Bank, Sutton Bank, Mechanics Bank, Park National Bank, Hudson & Roth Outdoor Living, Monarch Surfaces, and the Richland County Foundation.

Originally donated by the generous Charles Wilcox family, the home has been completely transformed from top to bottom — including full lead and asbestos remediation for the family’s long-term health and safety.

Renovations include:
✨ New HVAC
✨ New plumbing & electrical
✨ New roof, gutters & downspouts
✨ New kitchen & bath
✨ New windows & doors
✨ A beautifully finished attic adding tons of living space
✨ Two new decks
…and so much more!

What made today even more meaningful is knowing how hard the Powells have worked for this moment. Like all Habitat homeowners, they’ve spent the last two years completing financial literacy education and fulfilling their sweat equity hours — a powerful reminder that nonprofit work is truly partnership work between families, donors, volunteers, and our community.

Our hearts were full as our community partners gathered to fill this home with love, laughter, and warm wishes for the Powells. ❤️ Major Juanita Stanford — pastor and sister to our new homeowner — offered a beautiful blessing before the Chamber led a joyful ribbon cutting.

After the Welcome Home Ceremony, our Executive Director, Aubri Them, joined the Powells at Chicago Title, where they signed the final mortgage documents for their new home and received their keys. With that signature, they officially became first-time homeowners — receiving a safe, beautiful home with a zero-percent interest affordable mortgage made possible by YOU and this incredible community.
