Are your cattle showing signs of New World Screwworm?

Early detection can save lives and protect Texas agriculture. Commissioner Sid Miller urges all livestock owners to inspect their animals regularly, report suspicious cases, and act fast

Mexico confirmed a new case of New World screwworm in Sabinas Hidalgo, located in the state of Nuevo LeΓ³n, less than 70 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

This is now the northernmost detection of NWS during this outbreak and the one most threatening to the American cattle and livestock industry.

Currently, U.S. ports remain closed to imports of cattle, bison, and horses from Mexico.

They’re stationed by the owl, the time-honored emblem of knowledge and wisdom. Ag teachers are asked to advise FFA members and students as the need arises. And they base that advice on their years and experience.

Here’s to you, ag teachers, on National Day!
