🦯 Today is White Cane Day.

The white cane is more than a mobility tool — it’s a symbol of independence for people who are blind or visually impaired.

For Lions, today has special meaning. Vision has been at the heart of Lions service for generations, and it continues to be an important part of what we do right here in our community.

From vision screenings to collecting and recycling used eyeglasses, the Stow-Munroe Falls Lions are proud to continue that tradition of service. 💙💛

Today, we celebrate independence, raise awareness and recommit ourselves to helping make our community more accessible for everyone.

💙 Serving our community looks different every day.

Earlier this year, members of the Stow-Munroe Falls Lions helped move and sort clothing for the Helping Hands Clothing Drive at the Stow Senior Center.

The next day, local residents were able to shop for clothing and school supplies at no cost.

Vision may be one of the causes Lions are best known for, but “We Serve” means showing up wherever our community needs a few extra hands. 🦁💛

👓 Ever wonder what happens to the used eyeglasses you donate to the Lions?
They don’t just sit in a collection box!

Our Lions collect, sort and pack donated glasses so they can continue on their journey toward helping someone who needs them.

In July alone, our club packed 450 pairs of donated eyeglasses! 💙💛

So when you see one of our collection boxes and have an old pair of glasses sitting in a drawer — bring them along. They really do add up.

October 6–18 is Lions Club Vision Week of Service, and it seems like a pretty good time to talk about what that means right here in our community.

The Stow-Munroe Falls Lions provide vision screenings, collect used eyeglasses, help connect people with vision resources, and work to make eye care more accessible to people who need it.

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll share a little more about what happens behind the scenes — including where all those used glasses you give us actually go. 💙💛

That’s what “We Serve” looked like for the Stow-Munroe Falls Lions over the past year!

From vision screenings and eyeglass recycling to blood drives, scholarships, community events and so much more, our Lions have been busy serving Stow, Munroe Falls and the surrounding community.

We’re incredibly proud of what our club accomplished — and we’re always looking for more people who want to get involved and serve alongside us. 🦁

Well, after 19 years… we finally had a rainy Paw Fest. ☔️🐾

As far as we can remember, today was the first rainy Paw Fest in 19 years — and Stow and Munroe Falls, you showed up anyway. 💙💛

To everyone who grabbed an umbrella, put a raincoat on your pup, walked through the wet grass, visited our vendors, entered a contest, completed a passport, donated, volunteered, sponsored Paw Fest, or just came out to spend part of your Sunday with us: THANK YOU.

We watched people keep coming through the gates even when the rain kept coming down, and we cannot tell you how much that meant to our Lions.

Paw Fest is one of the ways the Stow-Munroe Falls Lions Club raises money to continue serving our community, and your support today helps make that work possible.

We have a lot of photos to sort through (including plenty of wet dogs 😂), so more Paw Fest 2026 pictures are coming!

Thank you for making our first rainy Paw Fest one we’ll remember. 🐾

Grab your pup and come spend Sunday with us at Bow Wow Beach! We’ll have vendors, rescues and community organizations, contests, our Paw Fest Passport, food trucks and, of course, plenty of dogs! 🐶💙💛

Best of all, Paw Fest helps support the Stow-Munroe Falls Lions Club and the work we do right here in our community. So come have some fun, support local organizations, and help us keep serving Stow and Munroe Falls!

A few things to know before you come:

🎟️ Paw Fest is FREE to attend!
🌦️ Rain or shine - we’ll be there!
🚗 Parking is a $1 donation OR used eyeglasses 👓
🥫 We’re collecting Bulldog Bag donations: mac & cheese cups, individual bags of snack food, fruit cups and pudding cups
🌮 Come hungry! We’ll have locally owned food trucks on site, too.
