Today is Election Day.
This puppy canât vote.
The dog lying in the dirt behind him canât vote.
The thousands of dogs running loose through Californiaâs cities, neighborhoods, and farmlands canât vote either.
They canât speak up when theyâre abandoned. They canât ask for help when theyâre neglected. They canât tell anyone how they ended up hungry, injured, forgotten, or left behind.
Every day, rescuers, shelter staff, fosters, and ordinary citizens step in to fill the gaps. But the reality is heartbreaking: shelters are full, rescues are full, foster homes are stretched beyond capacity, and too many animals are still falling through the cracks.
This isnât about politics. It isnât about parties. It isnât about telling you who to support.
Itâs about remembering that your vote has power.
Power to demand better accountability. Better solutions. Better leadership. Better outcomes for the communities we live inâand for the animals that depend on us.
Real change doesnât happen because we hope for it. It happens because people show up and make their voices heard.
So today, while these dogs have no voice in the process, you do.
When you step into that voting booth, think about the things that matter to you. Think about your community. Think about the vulnerable. Think about those who cannot speak for themselves.
And maybe, for just a moment, think about them too. â€ïžđŸ
