Every year after our Neighborhood Night Out Block Party, the event committee gathers for one of our favorite traditions: a potluck with the neighbors, business owners, sponsors, vendors and community members who helped make it all happen. Everyone brings a dish, we share a meal and get to enjoy some time together after all the work that goes into bringing our neighborhood to life ❤️ A special thank you to Catalyst for hosting us, as always. It takes a Village to make these events happen, and we’re already getting ready for our next one: YSV Trick-or-Treat 🎃 Stay on the lookout for event and activity announcements coming soon. 7 years strong, and now officially a nonprofit, we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who continues to show up, support the Village and help bring vibrancy and activity to the block for all to enjoy.

A very special moment for Yosemite Street Village during the Neighborhood Night Out Block Party. We are incredibly grateful to San Joaquin County Supervisor Mario Gardea for securing $30,000 in discretionary funding for our organization, a MAJOR INVESTMENT that will help us continue improving the block, supporting neighborhood projects, creating community events, and building on the work we’ve already started. Supervisor Gardea currently represents San Joaquin County District 1 which includes the Village.

We also want to give a thank you to the United Way of San Joaquin County for continuing to support local nonprofits and helping organizations like ours strengthen their capacity and grow. Their work through programs like NEST is centered on helping nonprofits build stronger organizations and create lasting community impact.

For years we’ve talked about what Yosemite Street Village could become. Moments like this remind us that little by little, those ideas are becoming real (7 YEARS LATER). We have a lot of work ahead of us, but this $30,000 gives us an incredible opportunity to keep investing back into a block we all care deeply about.

We did it!!

Our 7th Annual Neighborhood Night Out Block Party was one for the books. Yosemite Street was filled with neighbors, families, local businesses, live music, great food, kids running from activity to activity, performances, community resources, a packed watermelon eating contest, photos being taken, plants being swapped and so many familiar and new faces enjoying the block together.

None of this happens without people showing up and pulling together. A huge thank you to our volunteers, board members, businesses, performers, food vendors, community organizations, sponsors and everyone who donated their time or resources. A special thank you to Mayor Christina Fugazi, Councilmember Mario Enríquez and Central State Credit Union for supporting our Village and being part of the evening. And of course, thank you to every neighbor who brought out a lawn chair, grabbed some food and spent the night with us on Tuesday.

Events like this are just one of the ways we’re working to bring more life to Yosemite Street, support the businesses that call it home and create a block that our neighborhood can be proud of. National Night Out is really just a taste of what Yosemite Street Village can accomplish when we all pull together.

And we’re not done. We want to hear from you: What would you like to see next year or on the block? More block parties? A street fair? Holiday events? More live music? Art? Food events? Family nights? Tell us in the comments. We have a pretty special little block here, and we’re excited about where we can take it next.

There is nothing like a block full of neighbors. On August 4, we joined Yosemite Street Village for National Night Out in Stockton and spent the evening meeting the families, business owners, and neighbors who are putting real work into this neighborhood every day. Thank you for welcoming us. We are proud to stand alongside you.
