Have you ever wondered what’s being done locally to keep our roads safe while protecting our freshwater from excess road salt? ❄️💧

​It takes a community effort! While our volunteers track local chloride levels in nearby streams and lakes through our Salt Watch program (learn more: https://iwla.org/salt-watch/), our local municipalities are also taking action.

​The Village of Plover Public Works Department is hosting a Wisconsin Salt Wise Equipment Open House to showcase modern snow and ice control practices that reduce salt runoff:

Ike's members needed for Halloween Happenings event.

This event will be held on Friday Oct. 30 at the Clubhouse. Please consider volunteering to help make this event successful and safe. We need people for set-up, during event, and take down. Also, we need desserts made for families attending the event. Call / Text Dave Schleihs at 715-347-6424 to sign up.

Thursday 10/29 Set-up 9 a.m. To Noon
Friday 10/30 Set-up 8 a.m. To Noon
Event 10/30 various roles 5 p.m. To 9:30 p.m.
Desserts can be dropped off at Clubhouse Thursday after 4 p.m., or on Friday.

We’re back on the range tomorrow evening! 🎯🍂
​Our Fall Fun Target practice returns tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14th at 6:00 PM out at the Izaak Walton League grounds.
​Bundle up in a light layer, grab a friend, and enjoy a crisp autumn evening breaking clays with us. It’s completely non-league, low-stress, and open to the entire community.
​When: Tomorrow (Wednesday, Oct 14) at 6:00 PM
​Where: Izaak Walton League Club Grounds (5341 State Hwy 66, Stevens Point – south side of Hwy 66, east of Torun Rd.)
​Details: Targets supplied by the club on-site; just bring your own equipment and gear!

​Friendly reminder that there is no target event tonight, but our clubhouse doors are open! Tonight is our monthly club meeting at 7:00 PM, and anyone interested in local conservation is warmly invited to attend.
​Come learn about our ongoing conservation efforts, outdoor projects, and how we work to protect natural resources in Stevens Point and surrounding communities. It’s a great way to meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts and see what our chapter has to offer.

​Instead, the Izaak Walton League – Bill Cook Chapter is hosting our monthly club meeting tomorrow evening, and it is completely open to the public.
​Ever wonder what the Izaak Walton League is all about? We are one of the nation’s oldest grassroots conservation organizations, dedicated to protecting our local soil, air, woods, waters, and wildlife right here in Portage County.
​If you care about local outdoor conservation, hands-on environmental projects, or just want to see what our chapter does in the community, come pull up a chair, meet our members, and check us out!

Learning in nature's classroom!
​Recently, our volunteers had the opportunity to guide local students through a hands-on stream study!
​Students explored stream ecology up close while learning how effective stream management protects local waters and wildlife.
We're grateful for our volunteers who continue to mentor and inspire the next generation!
