The Steubenville Art Association has planned the workshops for its 80th art year. They are mostly scheduled from 10AM-1PM on the third Saturday of the month. Some are offered at the Visitor Center downtown Steubenville, some at the Center of Music and Art in Wintersville and some at other venues. Keep checking our Facebook for updates on the workshops and where they will be held as they get closer.
Our October workshop is at the Visitor Center, led by Mallory Jenkins. We will paint and design our own denim jackets
In November, Deb Kimball will lead a Pen & Ink session at CMA. Deb has won a ribbon for her art at almost all our art shows the past couple years.
We will skip December and have our Christmas luncheon. But in January Christina Collins takes the lead for a Watercolor Workshop. Another one of our members who quite often carries ribbons home from the shows.
In February we are going to Spyridon Studios to learn from Paul Monroe. We will be doing clay pottery in downtown Steubenville.
In March, Gina Judy will teach us calligraphy. This is a workshop where most all our artists will be learning. Gina does all the fancy writing for the SAA and she's quite good. But don't forget March is our "Artist, Show Us Your Stuff" art show, an annual event at the Visitor Center. Watch Facebook for more information on this art show.
In April, "Best of Show Man" James Clum will do an oil painting workshop. This will be at the Visitor Center. James has won so many awards and is unbelievably talented.
In May, Giana Barker, a previous SAA scholarship winner, will do a Chiaroscurro workshop at the Visitor Center. Google it. We're not sure exactly what it is but don't think it's painful. Let's all go see what we can learn from her.
In June, Vitoria Yendo will teach Pencil Art Portraits. There's nothing more impressive than picking up a pencil and drawing a likeness of a human face and expression.
The public is invited to join the SAA members at these workshops. The cost is $25. Many times that will include the supplies needed.
It always helps to know about how many people plan to attend each workshop. You can email judyschmidt50@hotmail the week before each workshop to attend. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card at the door.
