I had the pleasure of connecting with hundreds of families yesterday at MISD's World of Possibilities event. Also in attendance was our furry therapy friends Miggy& Grace. We don’t just talk about inclusion. We build it. We open the doors. We do it first — and we do it different. The converaations, the need and the smiles & hugs yesterday were a reminder that our work is needed — and we are nowhere near finished. 💙

We are constantly reminded that when people come together with a shared heart for children and families, small acts of generosity can turn into something BIG.

The Kiwanis Club of Utica-Shelby Township recently donated $500 toward the purchase of a brand-new inflatable bouncer for Play-Place—but their generosity didn’t stop there. When several individual Kiwanis members learned that the bouncer cost more than the club’s donation, they personally stepped up and came together to make up the difference. Just like that, a need became a reality. ❤️

And THIS is what community looks like.

To the Kiwanis Club of Utica-Shelby Township and the incredible members who gave personally: THANK YOU. Thank you for believing in our mission, investing in our families, and showing us once again what can happen when a community comes together. ❤️

Every day at Play-Place is filled with laughter, friendships, sensory fun, hands-on activities, and opportunities for children to grow in a safe, judgment-free environment. Watching our campers build confidence and make memories is exactly why we do what we do.

💙 We are incredibly grateful to be selected as a recipient of 2 Walmart Spark Good Grants!

Every act of generosity helps create opportunities for children and families who simply want a place where they feel accepted, supported, and celebrated. This grant will help make our L.E.A.P. (Learning Enrichment at Play) Summer Camp an even more meaningful experience, giving families much-needed relief while providing campers with a safe, inclusive place to learn, grow, make friends, and have fun.

To Walmart and everyone who supports the Spark Good program—thank you for believing in our mission and in the families we serve. Your kindness is creating smiles, building confidence, and reminding our community that everyone belongs.

There are moments that remind you why you keep going, even when the journey isn't easy.

Today, I had the incredible honor of accepting the 2026 Hidden Gem Award on behalf of Play-Place Autism & Special Needs Center. While my name may have been associated with this recognition, the truth is that this award belongs to an entire village.

It belongs to every family who has trusted us with their children, every donor who believed in our mission, every volunteer, intern, staff member, community partner, and every child who walks through our doors and reminds us why this work matters.

When I started Play-Place, I simply wanted to create a place where individuals with autism and other special needs would be accepted, celebrated, and truly belong. To have our little organization recognized in this way is both humbling and deeply encouraging.

Thank you to the Macomb Business Awards for this incredible honor, and thank you to everyone who has walked alongside us. Your belief in our mission continues to make the impossible feel possible.

Here's to continuing to serve, to grow, and to create a community where every individual is valued, included, and loved.

I had the privilege of receiving a very meaningful gift.

The mother standing beside me donated these beautiful pieces of artwork that once hung in her daughter's room. Her daughter had attended and enjoyed Play-Place, and after her passing, her mother felt that this was the place where the artwork should continue to be appreciated and enjoyed.

Both pieces now greets families as they enter our center—a quiet but powerful reminder of a life that touched others and a mother's enduring love.

There is something incredibly special about being entrusted with a piece of someone's story. We are honored to give these paintings a home where they will be seen, appreciated, and remembered every day.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made Macomb County Impact Day such a success!
We were honored to be one of 36 nonprofit sites welcoming volunteers from across the community. With more than 400 volunteers serving throughout Macomb County, it was inspiring to see so many people come together to make a difference.

At Play-Place, volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help detail our shuttle van and give our ball pit a fresh new look with a coat of paint. These improvements may seem simple, but they help create a better experience for the children and families we serve every day.

We are truly grateful for your time, energy, and generosity. Thank you for investing in our mission and our community. ❤️

SPECIAL NEEDS SUMMER CAMP
Where little learners are safe, supported, and celebrated!

Little Learners LEAP Summer Camp gives children ages 2–6 a safe, nurturing space to play, learn, build confidence, and enjoy the summer.

Each 2-week session includes sensory art, summer fun, treasure hunts, dress-up days, weekly outings, and skill-building activities.

LAST CALL: $400 per session
Monday thru Friday | 9am–3pm
