Hello Friends,
As some of you know 2017 was a very difficult year for our community. For the past year we have been reevaluating, recovering and seeking out new ways forward to support our friends in Uganda after unforeseen circumstances had made it nearly impossible. As a team we decided the only way forward as it stands now was to ensure that we remained committed to seeing one of the original goals of CLD through- to make sure our smallest friends, the kiddos we have all grown to know and love, are able to receive the most important tool we may ever be able to give - an education.
Around January this year we began to reach out to many of you to step in, once again, and trust us. We write you this update grateful, expectant and humbled by the response and support we have received so far!
This term Sherinah, a longtime friend and the Scholarship Program Director in Kampala, has enrolled a grand total of 103 of our friends into new healthy learning environments where we hope to see students thrive and turn over a new page in their lives. There are so many faces some of you know very well that have been given a new chance to grow and it is because you all have said YES!
We and all of these students are so thankful for the progress we have made together but we still have a long way to go!
Currently, only 50 of the 103 students in school have received consistent scholarships which means we need to find 53 more monthly donors to be able to keep these kids in school. So please pass on this need to anyone who may be interested in stepping up so we can keep doing this thing together!
Thank you for all of the love and support- we cannot do this without you!
