High winds and warmer temps are increasing concerns about wildfire after an exceptionaly dry winter. That's why UYWCD completed the Bear River Wildfire Ready Action Plan (WRAP) in 2025.

The WRAP identifies pre-fire actions and post-fire planning along the Bear River corridor that will protect infrastructure and water supplies both before and after a wildfire occurs. UYWCD will be starting wildfire mitigation work to reduce fuels along the Stillwater Ditch this summer.

As part of our commitment to maintaining water infrastructure in the Upper Yampa Basin, we are proud to have awarded UYWCD Community Grant Program funding to assist in repairs to Stillwater Reservoir that will allow the reservoir to remove its current storage restrictions.
