We had a few training opportunities in May. Some of us participated in the Statewide hurricane exercise. We tested COMMS between the state EOC, Eastern branch office, Western branch office, Central branch office and Carteret County. We utilized VIPER, HF and DMR radio systems.
We Were invited to participate in a Land Search training exercise. This was a 60 hr course however we only helped the day of the actual search. The exercise was interrupted for a real life event. We were called to help with a search in Rowan county for a 86 yo male with dementia. We staged at the Cleveland FD and was about to deploy when the subject was found by the ICSO K9 unit. We returned to Mooresville and continued the exercise finishing up before midnight. Thanks to South Iredell VFD and Robert King for the invite.
