Schedule appointments by calling 912-623-2528. Service animals accepted. Open Hearts Community Mission is a local, community funded 501c3 Rescue Mission Shelter. It offers two programs which operate with High Standards, Strong Boundaries and Clear Direction. The Friends & Neighbors Program is short-term shelter; New Life Institute is crafted to the needs of the individual. The Mission is for men,

women and families. There is non-tolerance for drugs, alcohol, tobacco (designated smoking areas), violence or threat of violence. All services are Christ-centered. Each participant is assigned a financial counselor and mentor if necessary (some may already have mentors through outside programs) with the goal of character development and skills acquisition. We are not a rehab or convalescent care facility.

Thank you to Betty Parker from The Bridge Church in Pembroke for being mission minded when a restaurant was recently closing. She boxed up 8 piece place settings for residents when they move out. She also sent this sweet rocker to our mom to be for her new baby when it arrives. Betty, we appreciate you more than words could say.

A few weeks ago, we shared that we had a young expectant mother staying at Open Hearts who would soon be welcoming a baby girl. It had been quite some time since we had prepared to welcome a newborn at the Mission, and almost immediately, women began reaching out asking, “How can I help?” 💗
So, we connected them through a message thread and the planning began for a shower since this is her first child.
Women representing five different churches none of whom knew this young mother and some who didn't even know one another spent weeks planning a baby shower for her. (Something that the mission itself couldn't have pulled off.) They planned the menu, decorated, gathered gifts, divided responsibilities, and poured so much love into making her feel celebrated.

There is such beauty in connecting a need with a willing heart and then stepping back and watching God work through His people.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10

Thank you to all who worked behind the scenes and helped make this time so special for her.

What a blessing we received today! ❤️

At Open Hearts Community Mission, we believe it is important to support the businesses that support our community. Our staff, board members, and volunteers work hard at fundraising to keep funding flowing so that we can not only serve those who need us, but also pay local businesses fairly for the work they do. We Times are hard for everyone, and we never want to simply expect someone to donate their time, labor, or services because we are a non profit.

We recently called Cochran’s Pressure Washing for an estimate to pressure wash our building and concrete. We received the estimate, accepted it, and fully intended to pay for the work.

After Adam finished the job today, we received this message:

“Mrs. Delia, the more I thought about it, the more my heart says not to charge anything for your building/concrete. I did not realize what (Open Hearts) truly did, but now I have a much better understanding of the GOOD you do in our community. THANK YOU ❤️ Cochran’s Pressure Washing is not always about the money."

Well, Adam, here is a shout-out for you, and it is very well deserved! ❤️

We are incredibly grateful for this unexpected gift. We didn't ask for a discount or donated services. This was simply a local businessman who came to do a job, saw a little more of what happens behind the doors of Open Hearts, and decided he wanted to give back.

Please remember the businesses that quietly step up and support the organizations, families, schools, churches, and people in our community. One of the best ways we can thank them is by supporting them in return.

Thank you, Adam and Cochran’s Pressure Washing, for blessing Open Hearts Community Mission today. Your generosity will not be forgotten. ❤️

Adam had also done work at our personal home and we have been very pleased!!
