G&M McIntosh Saltwater Youth Camp launches to inspire young people in Coastal Georgia, announces partnership with Fostering Families, Inc.
Newly formed 501(c)(3) to utilize generous gift of 15 acres along White Chimney River to provide youth with expert-guided access to tidal creeks, salt marshes, and vibrant ecosystems
McIntosh County, Ga. – Nov. 3, 2025 – G&M McIntosh Saltwater Youth Camp (SYC), a newly established 501(c)(3) organization, today announced its official launch, fueled by a mission to inspire local youth to foster a deep appreciation for the abundant natural beauty and rich resources that Georgia’s coastline has to offer. With newly deeded access to 15 acres of stunning marsh front property situated adjacent to Belle Bluff Island Campground and Marina in Townsend, Georgia, G&M McIntosh SYC offers young people with unparalleled access to the tidal creeks, salt marshes, and vibrant ecosystems that make the Georgia coast so unique.
“For decades, I have felt called to honor the legacy of my parents, George and Monette, not only for their commitment to community but also for instilling their love of Georgia’s Coast in me, my siblings, and so many others during their lifetimes,” said Ron McIntosh, founder of G&M McIntosh Saltwater Youth Camp. “It’s the honor of my life to share the blessings of our rivers and creeks with these young explorers, and I hope those we host at G&M McIntosh SYC forge the fondest of memories and gain life lessons along the shore for generations to come.”
Given its exceptional waterfront location, G&M McIntosh SYC is ideally positioned to further its mission to immerse youth in the beauty of their natural surroundings while providing countless new opportunities for exploration, education, and adventure, including mentorship from passionate local guides committed to empowering them to:
• Learn to fish in the saltwater creeks and tidal rivers
• Explore Coastal Georgia’s undeveloped barrier islands teeming with wildlife
• Hunt for seashell treasures on sun-washed shores
• Learn about coastal ecology and conservation
• Build lasting friendships and make unforgettable memories
Committed to supporting a safe environment of fun, fellowship, and personal development, G&M McIntosh SYC is eager to host interested groups of young people throughout the region, from Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to church groups, foster care organizations, and more. And as part of its official launch, G&M McIntosh SYC is proud to announce a partnership with Fostering Families, Inc., a Georgia-wide effort to share the Hope and Love of Christ with children and families in crisis situations. A ministry that began in Bulloch County now impacts children and families across the state of Georgia by meeting material needs and providing lasting memories for children in foster care. Together, Fostering Families and G&M McIntosh SYC are dedicated to enriching the lives of children and families throughout Georgia’s Coastal region, one outdoor adventure at a time.
“Just a few weeks ago, we were able to bring a group of youth to our first official outing with G&M McIntosh SYC, and it was nothing short of perfect – from every single kid catching a fish, to teaching many to throw a cast net, and every moment of laughter and cheering in between,” said Chris Yaughn, founder, director, and CEO of Fostering Families, Inc. “We are excited to offer our youth exposure to such an incredible experience and show them the glory of God’s work on and in the water.”
Looking ahead, G&M McIntosh SYC will offer overnight lodging for both boys and girls in well-appointed dormitory-style cabins, full bath house facilities, a fully equipped kitchen, and a covered picnic pavilion to further enrich and bring creature comforts to the camp experience along the bank of the White Chimney River. While one dormitory and the picnic pavilion already have been constructed, G&M McIntosh SYC is seeking volunteer support from local tradesmen to assist with the setup and construction of additional new facilities, helping to create a welcoming and inspiring space for generations of campers to come.
