Scrappers,

We are pleased to announce Jen Meengs as our PA Scrappers 10U Manager for the 2015 season. Jen has been active within the State College baseball and softball community for the past 7 years and has coached from tee ball through minors softball. Jen's daughter, Meredith, played last year and they are excited for the upcoming season and a chance to continue the success the 10U team has had! The 10U Scrappers should have a good, strong core of coaches, including a mix of parents and even some outside coaching help. The PA Scrappers is in need of a qualified 10U Manager. We have 7 solid girls ready to play, but we are struggling to find someone to take on the team. Our 10U program has been very successful over the past two seasons, and we would like to continue to give these girls the opportunity to develop and compete at a high level. The goal of the 10U program is to play in 4-5 spring/summer tournaments. If you have any interest in doing so, please let us know. We would love to discuss the possibilities with you.

Scrappers,

The Scrappers are continuing to build partnerships with organizations that differentiate our program and provide best in class instruction and facilities to our players year round! To that end, I am happy to announce our newest partnership with Own the Plate! Own the Plate is located at 270 Rolling Ridge Dr, in Bellefonte PA. Their philosophy is to build the athlete physically, train the athlete professionally and prepare the athlete mentally. They look to build on the strong fundamental skills of the players to prepare them for advanced competition at the higher levels of the game. Their direction is right in line with the goals of the Scrappers organization. Own the Plate will provide many services for our players including strength and agility training, hitting, fielding and pitching instruction. In addition to these services, they have graciously offered to provide us with indoor practice space when the weather finally turns. These instructional services will be available in a variety of ways. They will offer monthly memberships for unlimited access, individual instruction and group camp opportunities. Many of our players currently use personal instruction, and we would encourage them to continue to do so at Own the Plate using their highly skilled, licensed and experienced instructors. I’d like to invite all of our families to an informational meeting at Own the Plate on 10/15 at 7pm to hear more about this exciting opportunity. At this meeting we will discuss pricing, camp dates, and have a general Q&A session. This is a tremendous opportunity for your daughters and I am very much looking forward to seeing them continue to their progression as elite softball players.

The 14U Scrappers Gray fast pitch softball team will be holding open tryouts for the 2014-2015 season on Wednesday, September 10 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Dalevue Park (413 Goldfinch Drive, State College) and on Friday, September 12 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at API Field (1900 West College Avenue, State College). Scrappers,

Hope you all are enjoying the last few weeks of summer! We have had a fantastic Scrappers season, resulting in many tournament championships at all levels. More importantly, every player has developed and become a better player and teammate over the last several months. That development is essential, as we strive to be the premier and most competitive organization in Central PA! Because of our success, and the great kids and families in our program, we have a record number of players wanting to play at almost every level! This is a great problem to have! However, with the increased interest comes a need for increased volunteers. With the numbers of players wanting to play, we will likely field multiple teams at a few of our levels, and as a result, we are seeking members interested in coaching or managing a team. Can you please just reply to [email protected] and let us know if you have interest and if so, what age group? We are looking forward to our best year ever!

The 12U Scrappers fast pitch softball team will be holding open tryouts for the 2014-2015 season on Saturday September 13 from 10am to 12pm and on Sunday September 14 from 4pm to 6pm. They will be held at the API field located at 1900 West College Avenue in State College. For more information please visit the 12U page at www.StateCollegeScrappers.org.

The Scrappers is an organization that has been involved with girls fastpitch softball for nearly a decade. Its primary purpose is to develop and support amateur athletes for sports competition, and to instill in the players the ideals of good sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty, and respect.
