Scott is a perfect example of a servant leader. Not only has he spent many years protecting people across Nebraska, but he has also spent a significant amount of time investing in the youth and citizens of Stanton. One of the most genuine and sincere people I have ever met. Congratulations, Scott!!! Retirement is well deserved! Thank you for all that you have done for Stanton Youth Basketball!
Today, the Norfolk Police Division was honored to help give Nebraska State Patrol Sergeant Scott Rutten a proper send off during part of his farewell tour.
We were proud to join members of the Nebraska State Patrol, Norfolk Fire Division, State Probation, Norfolk Police Division, and city staff, with over 30 people in attendance, to recognize Scott for 32 years of service and present him with a plaque in appreciation of his outstanding partnership and commitment to northeast Nebraska.
Over the years, Scott Rutten has been the kind of person agencies could always count on. Calm under pressure, professional in every situation, and always willing to help, he has been a trusted partner in some of the toughest moments our agencies have faced. When calls got serious and situations became challenging, Scott was someone you were always glad to see show up. That kind of partnership matters, and it has made a real difference for our division and for the communities we all serve.
What makes Scott even more respected is that his service went far beyond the badge. He coached many of our kids over the years and made a lasting impact on young people throughout this community. That says a lot about the kind of man he is. He served not only through his profession, but also by investing in others and helping shape the next generation.
Law enforcement, fire, probation, and public service are at their best when strong partnerships exist, and the relationship between the Norfolk Police Division and the Nebraska State Patrol has long been one of those important partnerships. Scott Rutten represented that partnership the right way. He earned respect by showing up, doing the job well, treating people right, and being there when it mattered most.
Please join us in thanking Sergeant Scott Rutten for 32 years of dedicated service, friendship, leadership, and partnership. We wish him nothing but the very best in retirement. A career like his leaves a mark, and his certainly did.
