Designed in partnership with St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport Hospital, Housatonic Community College, and local colleges with nursing programs, BCYL’s Health Explorers will expose high school students to various healthcare occupations and enable the most committed to obtain credentialing through Housatonic as an Administrative Medical Assistant.
Food Rescue US - Fairfield County reduces hunger and food waste through a tech-enabled, volunteer-driven model that redirects fresh surplus food to communities in need.
Food Rescue US – Fairfield County coordinates 450+ weekly rescues, including 100+ each Friday, redistributing 3.8 million pounds of surplus food annually. With a historically lean infrastructure of just 1.5 staff, their capacity for growth is constrained. With this grant, they will invest in a full-time Site Manager to oversee daily rescues, enabling their Site Director to focus on strategic outreach and partnerships—creating a more efficient, scalable model to expand impact.
