Project Music PROJECT MUSIC is a nonprofit in Stamford, CT, dedicated to providing high-quality music education to young people.

Through personalized instruction, workshops, and performances, we empower students to develop their skills, creativity, and confidence. 🎶 Project Music is an intensive after-school music education program for students in Stamford, Connecticut, dedicated to the memory of Anthony D. Truglia, who founded the original PROJECT MUSIC in the late 1960’s under the premise of providing free music lessons t

o inner city youth within walking distance to their homes. The current program is inspired by Venezuela’s “music education miracle” known as El Sistema, a program for social change created over 30 years ago by politician and musician Jose Abreu. In collaboration with the City of Stamford, Chester Addison Community Center (DOMUS), foundation and private supporters and future community partners, PROJECT MUSIC provides music education, instruments, and mentorship to Stamford youngsters. Like El Sistema, PROJECT MUSIC is intended not only to provide musical instruments and training, but also to address some of the extensive social challenges affecting Stamford’s youth. To this end, we use music to cultivate fundamental life skills such as self-expression, cooperative learning, discipline, leadership, and creativity— all of which have been linked to improved social and academic outcomes. The program, which is offered to children at no charge, fills a gap in accessible quality music education and after­school care in the City of Stamford.

Thanks and Con-GRAD-ulations 🎓 to Lewis and Elsie -- these talented Class of 2026 Westhill students will graduate next week and recently finished their internships with us! We are grateful for their help with instrument inventory, student surveys, and special events -- but most of all we appreciated the time they spent helping and encouraging our young musicians in our group and ensemble lessons.
Lewis has been playing saxophone since 4th grade and plans to attend WCSU, majoring in music performance. Elsie is an accomplished cellist, and plans to attend Cedarville University, studying IT Management with a concentration in Cybersecurity.
