Getting ready for my team's first HNA season, and youth season coming up, and starting a new job have been more taxing than I expected. Additionally, the rinks have been somewhat difficult.

I think for the first time we try this, we definitely need to push it to next spring or summer when more ice is available. Maybe expand it later to a better location and during hockey season if there is enough interest.

All of that being said, I could use some help and am looking for some people who'd like to form a committee to get this event off the ground. I think the idea is solid, but I'm one person currently. I'll also be sending out an email to those who provided information to the original survey and see if we can't get some people together.

Probably going to have to push this event to next spring or summer. Ice is getting hard to find, and I tried to find something for the slight lull in the Christmas season, but a lot of people have indicated availability would significantly lesson. More updates to come.

Some rough drafts on logos and jerseys for this event. If enough people wanted it, might make both home and away versions so people could buy a complete set for use elsewhere, but otherwise everyone would really only need one jersey for the event as the two are so different we should need to worry about it.

A bit more data. Thoughts currently on a 4 tier system. Bottom would be the beginners/low C (it seems like a lot of people who get thrust into low C are actually D, but we don't have D around here). C2/C1 mixed into tier 3. B in Tier 2. And, if I can find the right people, build two high level teams as the "headliner" for this event in the prime spot people will wanna come out to watch. |

Thoughts?

I haven't forgotten everyone. I'm in the process of switching jobs. After this week, I should have a little bit more time.

So far, the proposed layout would be to form a Guardians and a Warriors team at each level we can fulfill. Those teams will play each other at that level in a "best of three" over the course of the weekend. Should a level be won in two, the third game would still be played.

It will be a two tiered competition. One tier will be the games themselves, and the second tier will be fundraising on the part of each team.

The idea would be to have each team fundraise, similar to what certain charities do towards the selected charity, or charities. One version of this would be to pick a charity for the Guardians, and a charity for the Warriors, and part of an "entrance fee" would go towards a pot in which the winning "side" gets some bragging rights when they get to add that pot to their raised funds for said charity. Still working that concept out.

Once we determine what levels, we'll start looking for captains, and assistants. These people do not need to be the most skilled per se, just the most willing/able to organize their teams and lead the fundraising effort(s).

If teams choose to try and fundraise to cover ice instead of players paying, that would be fine too. These specific details will be hashed out once we get Captains sorted and we can all meet to finish the plan.

So, it is super important to spread the Google form link for the interest survey, because the amount of ice we are talking about, I'll need to secure sooner than later.

Please, feel free to share this page, links, etc. So far, I've had 14 responses, and with groups like the Blues Warriors running around already organized, I know, at least on the veterans side, there are plenty of hockey players out there who would qualify.

Thank you everyone, and I'm hoping we can see this through!

Thus far, the skillset that's interested is broken down here. Still missing a lot of data, but based on what I've seen so far from area orgs, the most likely spread for the event would be lower C, upper C, and perhaps a "B". The form is on a previous post. Please share that so I can gather some more data.

Still looking for data on the proposed First Responders versus Veterans charity hockey event. If you know a current, retired, or former first responder and/or veterans, who might be interested in playing for a charity ice hockey event in the Saint Louis area, please have them fill this out:

For those who served, the mission never really stops. We are calling on First Responders and Veterans alike to help us to organize a charity event this winter. Members from the War Dogs and Kodiaks Hockey Club are seeking to gauge interest in an ice hockey tournament or exhibition event sometime thi...
