Segs4Vets awards universally designed Segways and ALLY Chair adapted Segways to men and women of the United States Military who were injured while serving our Nation resulting in permanent disability. These devices are to be used to help one's mobility related issues, allowing our recipients to regain some independence they may have lost. While our program's historical focus has been on those who have served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom, we recently broadened our support to other disabled veterans who meet certain criteria. In 2014, Segs4Vets began fabricating and awarding ALLY Chairs, adapted Segways which are operated in a seated position, for those who have unique needs and cannot make productive use of the Segway standing. Both the ALLY Chair and the Segway are unique devices solving many of the mobility issues facing our disabled veterans in a manner which is both psychologically uplifting and physically beneficial, promoting greater independence and the successful reintegration into their communities resulting in greater opportunities for them to live purpose filled, independent, joyful lives.
