Homer G. Phillips Hospital was the only hospital for African Americans in St. Louis, Missouri, from 1937 until 1955, when the city still had segregated facilities. Located at 2601 N. Whittier Street in The Ville neighborhood, it was the first teaching hospital west of the Mississippi River to serve blacks.
