Prayer: Let us pray for the world of technology and scientific research.

Lord, you have endowed human beings with the ability to search out your laws
and have given them the freedom to apply their knowledge as they choose.
We ask your blessing on all engaged in scientific research and technology
and on those who provide the resources for such work;
that choice may be made of projects
which both enhance human life and have regard to the safety and well-being of the natural order.
May we thus be true stewards of your bounty,
to our own inner satisfaction and your greater glory.
Amen.

Prayer: O Lord, what a variety of things you have made!
In wisdom you have made them all.
The earth is full of your creatures.
Here is the ocean, vast and wide,
teeming with life of every kind,
both large and small….
They all depend on you
to give them food as they need it.
When you supply it, they gather it.
You open your hand to feed them,
and they are richly satisfied….
When you give them your breath, life is created,
and you renew the face of the earth.
May the glory of the Lord continue forever!
The Lord takes pleasure in all he has made! (Psalm 67:24-25, 27-28, 30-31, NLT).

As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between.

Prayer: God of all life,
Help us to appreciate the great gift that is human life
formed in your image, a reflection of your holiness.

Help us to recognize you
in all whom you have created:
children not yet born,
families affected by poverty and war,
people of different abilities,
people from other lands, and
all who are victims of hatred and racism.

Help us to bear witness to the dignity of all whom you have created,
regardless of stage of life,
or wealth,
or ability,
or color, or creed,
for every person is fully equal in your loving eyes.
Share with us your holy knowledge
that we are all your children,
each bestowed with inherent dignity.
May your justice reign forever!
Amen.

Prayer: God of peace, thank you for being gentle, loving, compassionate, and nonviolent! You are so nonviolent that you do not force yourself upon us, but gently call us to your wisdom and way of nonviolence. You give us the freedom to do as we will. Help us to do your will of peace, to choose your way of nonviolence. Help us to live nonviolent lives, to become your holy people of nonviolence, to welcome your reign of peace and nonviolence here on earth. Amen

Prayer: All Gracious God, you have given me all I am and have,
and now I give it back to you to stand under Your will alone.
In a special way I give You these later years of my life.

I am one of those called by You into old age, a call not given to all.
not given to Jesus, not given to most in our world today.
I humbly ask You, grace me deeply in each aspect of the struggle.

As my physical eyesight weakens,
may the eyes of my faith strengthen,
that I may see You and Your love in everything.

As my hearing fails, my the ears of my heart
be more attentive to the whisper of Your gentle voice,

As my legs weaken and walking becomes more difficult,
may I walk more truly in Your paths,
knowing all the while that I am held in the embrace of your love.

As my mind becomes less alert and memory fades
may I remain peaceful in You,
aware that with You there is no need for though or word.
You ask simply that I be there, with you.

And should sickness overtake me and I be confined in bed,
may I know myself as one with Your Son as he offers his life for
the salvation of the world.

Finally, as my heart slows a little after the work of the years,
may it expand in love for You and all people.
May it rest secure and grateful in Your loving Heart
until I am lost in You, completely and forever. Amen.

Prayer: GRACIOUS GOD, WHOSE SON WEPT OVER THE CITY OF JERUSALEM,
fill our hearts with compassion for those men, women and children who suffer violence and exploitation at the hands of the wicked. Guide us in vigilance so that we may recognize those who need our assistance. Direct our hearts that we might untie the burdens placed upon them and bring them to freedom and safety. We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes and in the name of your Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. AMEN.

Areas to catalyze change towards reduced food loss and waste.
1. Increasing the efficiency of our food systems and reducing food loss and waste requires investment in innovation, technologies, and infrastructure.
2. Recovery and redistribution of surplus food improves access to food for the food insecure, while preventing food waste and ensuring economic, environmental, and social benefits.
3. Composting food waste is better than sending it to a landfill but preventing food waste in the first place is an even better way to lessen the impact on the environment.
4. Realizing and maximizing the positive impacts of reducing food loss and waste, requires good governance and human capital development, as well as collaboration and partnerships.
