At this years MET Gala María Zardoya holding an antique German bisque head with kid leather body, dolly face doll. The Doll wearing the exact same couture dress as María was customized into a handbag. Following along with this year‘s theme that fashion is art art is fashion. What a playful way to spotlight the beauty and emotion dolls invoke upon us. It’s our reminder that our dolls our dolls are works of art.

Happy Mother’s Day!

We were proud today to be this year’s presenters at the annual May joint luncheon. All of the attendees were invited to our special birthday party for each other. Today’s event was called, Namesakes Dolls and Friends who share our names.
A lot of thought and love went into your name. It was your first gift by your parents at the date that would become your birthday. Manufacturers of dolls realized that giving a doll a cute or charming name gave it instant personality! Several club members introduce their doll who had the same name as theirs. There was a nice scope of modern to antique displayed. Next we invited our guest to also present their doll that they brought. The celebration ended with a fun and educational trivia quiz. Congratulations to the winner.
Our names are our lifelong companions inked into our birth certificates, etched into our tombstones, and ultimately written in the hearts of our loved ones long after we are gone. With all that being said, it is only natural to wonder what our names mean, and who shares them with us. 
We would like to sincerely thank the members of three local doll clubs who attended and participated today.,

In club news our April meeting was productive and educational. An all American lunch of sliders, slaw, and tots ending with lemon blueberry cupcakes was enjoyed. Our educational portion of our afternoon was a short documentary on author and illustrator, Johnny Gruelle and his beloved Raggedy Ann and Andy characters.
Then it was down to the business of the day. We discussed and sorted out our May Joint Luncheon presentation plans for, Namesakes dolls and friends who share our names.
