Our Story

Mission To provide services that strengthen and expand philanthropy to improve the St. Louis region and beyond. Vision A thriving region in which a strong philanthropic community and effective nonprofits collaboratively advance the quality of life for all. History Founded in 1970 as the Metropolitan Association for Philanthropy (MAP), the Gateway Center for Giving (the Center) is an association of grantmakers serving the state of Missouri. Our members include: * Corporations * Donor-advised funds * Private foundations * Family foundations * Trusts and professional advisors These members are actively involved in philanthropy, which we define as "the giving of time, wisdom and wealth by groups and individuals for the common good.” The Center is part of a network of organizations called associations that exist across the country, all linked to the United Philanthropy Forum. Regional Associations connect all types of grantmakers within a specific geographic location to improve the quality of life of individuals and communities
