One Classroom

One Classroom One Classroom helps schools welcome every child into the heart of Catholic education. Their youngest child was born with Down syndrome.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, One Classroom was founded by parents of children with special needs with the goal of helping our St. Louis, MO archdiocese and parents make inclusive education possible in our parish schools! Meet our founders/directors: LeeAnn and Anthony Armitage:

LeeAnn and Anthony are parents of two children and are members of Mary Queen of Peace Parish in Webster Groves, MO. Afte

r extensive research to determine the optimal educational pathway for their son with Down syndrome LeeAnn and Anthony were inspired by inclusive education and the many Catholic schools around the country implementing inclusive programs. The opportunity of inclusive education, a strong belief in Catholic education, and the desire to educate their children together in one school created a passion to help all families of children with special needs and to serve Christ's church by helping our St. Louis archdiocese schools offer a new option for educating children with special needs.

Thank you so much to the Student Council at our Partner School, St. Joseph in Cottleville who fundraised nearly $9,400 for us!

The school's student council chose One Classroom to be the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts this school year, which included a car wash and middle school trivia night.

We are extremely grateful to the students, teachers, and families at St. Joseph for their tremendously generous efforts!

It's Manual Monday!

Engagement drives learning. When students with intellectual and developmental disabilities are included in general education classrooms alongside their peers, they're more focused, more present, and more invested in what they're learning.

How can we create more environments where students of all abilities belong and thrive?

Happy Feast of St. Dymphna! The young Irish princess fled to Belgium in the 7th century to escape her father's cruelty, dedicating her life to prayer and service to the poor and mentally ill. Today, she is venerated as the patron saint of those struggling with mental illness, anxiety, and neurological disorders.

St. Dymphna's life reminds us that every child deserves dignity, belonging, and the chance to grow in faith. In inclusive Catholic education, we honor her legacy by creating schools where students with intellectual and developmental disabilities are not just accommodated, but celebrated as beloved children of God.

St. Dymphna, pray for us!
