A hot shower, a meal, and a place to feel welcome.

We need $500 a week to keep our Tuesday Drop-In Center program running at 816 Allen Avenue. Guests can shower, get clothing and hygiene supplies, and connect with support—all free.

Twenty people giving $25 each week would cover the cost. Any amount helps, and businesses, churches, or groups can sponsor a whole Tuesday.

Thank you for helping us keep this going. Please share!

NPR reports that Adults aged 50 and older represent the fastest-growing demographic experiencing homelessness in the United States. In our role as the City’s Aging Services division within the Department of Human Services, we were asked to participate in the Mark Twain response. Approximately 70 older adults were living at Mark Twain when the closure was announced.

When we were alerted that Mark Twain was closing, a group including the Mayor’s office, the Department of Human Services, the CoC, and the Aging Services Network quickly gathered to determine what resources could be brought in to assist residents.

Case Managers went to Mark Twain to canvass, fill out applications, and help older adults move to permanent housing. 40 older adults agreed to receive assistance, and those older adults have now transitioned to safer living conditions.

A special thank you to:

This intervention is an excellent example of cross-sector collaborations between government entities, nonprofit agencies, and community members who care.

Communities First is here to help tornado disaster survivors.

Through the **Missouri Housing Trust Fund–Disaster Relief (MHTF-DR) Program**, we may be able to assist eligible households impacted by severe weather or other natural disasters. This program is designed to help individuals and families earning **75% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI)** who have become homeless—or are at risk of homelessness—as a result of a disaster.

Together, we can help Missouri communities recover, rebuild, and move forward. ❤️

🏠 Housing shouldn’t be out of reach for the people who keep our city running.

In St. Louis, 7 out of 10 people experiencing homelessness in 2024 were homeless for the first time. Rising rent, stagnant wages, and impossible housing costs are pushing more families and workers into crisis.

📊 To afford a modest 2-bedroom apartment in St. Louis, someone needs to earn about **$48,600/year** — while the average renter earns only **$43,700/year**.

This is more than a statistic. It’s a call to invest in affordable housing, living wages, and real community support before more neighbors fall through the cracks.

We would like to thank all of the volunteers and community members who came out to Hyde Park for Communities First’s EGGciting Spring Splash! 🐣💦
We were NOT going to let the weather completely cancel our community Easter event 😂💪🏾 We improvised to make sure all of Hyde Park’s kids could still enjoy a fun-filled day in their neighborhood. 🥰
