Food Drive for Woerner - The UMSL Student-Teacher class, that meets on Mondays, is partnering with Epiphany Lutheran Church; The goal is to gather canned goods for Woerner families who are in need this holiday season. The need is even greater this year with all of the problems caused by the extended government shutdown. They will be collecting canned items on the UMSL campus and Epiphany will collect canned items from members of the congregation and the neighborhood. Canned food items can be brought to Epiphany during office hours or on Sunday mornings, and placed in the designated area, in the Narthex, from November 16th thru December 7th. Food will be taken to Woerner weekly so that families can benefit immediately.

Hi,
I'm a features writer at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. I'm writing a story about the Halloween decor and spirit on certain streets in Holly Hills. I'd love to talk to some residents that are enthusiastic
about Halloween who could share some stories for my piece about one of the best Halloween neighborhoods in the region. Please send me an email with your contact info at [email protected], and I will reach out. Aisha Sultan

Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.
Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support one another in any way you can. That’s why I always render help and it does nothing but bring me joy when I see my positive impact in someone life.

Never bag your recycling--keep it loose, clean and dry!
Plastic bags are considered contamination at the MRF and do not belong in your Blue Bin. Remember to recycle plastic bags and wraps at the grocery store.

We couldn't ask for better weather in the Lou today! Come spend it in the park!

We had some water level issues with all the rain but our parks department has it all fixed and back to normal for us all to enjoy!
