ADC in D.C. This week, American Dairy Coalition is on Capitol Hill meeting with members of Congress in support of practical, year-round work permits — empowering farmers, strengthening food security, and sustaining the workforce that feeds our nation. ***We are NOT talking about amnesty, but a legal work path with security vetting. Pres. Trump signaled earlier support for work permits for immigrants in essential industries such as agriculture. Our borders are secure now. We can get this done! Together, we can now fix this broken system. Dairy farms operate 24/7/365 and depend on skilled, consistent teams to ensure animal care and produce the high-quality, wholesome, affordable milk and dairy products Americans enjoy every day. These positions are often difficult to fill locally. We believe in responsible leadership. We are looking for our policymakers to show courage. We stand with you to work on solutions. We see you! We thank you!

The border is secure, now we need to
We are among the hundreds of industry leaders meeting with members of Congress this week in support of work permits with American Business Immigration Coalition - ABIC

Legal work permits for immigrant workers is not a partisan issue, it’s an economic necessity. In recent months, President Trump has signaled his support for work permits for immigrant workers in essential industries such as agriculture and hospitality.

According to a recent Tarrance Group and ABIC Action survey of battleground states, 78% of Republicans and 90% of Democrats support President Trump's proposal to provide work permits to long-term, trusted undocumented immigrants working in essential industries.

Lawmakers, let’s capitalize on this opportunity to work together.

WisBusiness reports: “We’ve been told for 20 years that reform couldn’t happen until the border was secure,” said ADC's Laurie Fischer. “Well, the border is secure. Now is the time to move something. Let me make it clear: None of us are asking for amnesty — we’re asking for legal, year-round status so our workers and our farms can thrive.”

American Farm Bureau economist Danny Munch has run the numbers, and as expected, the increased make allowances have reduced the prices dairy farmers receive. In the first three months under the new rules, farmers lost more than $337 million in combined pool value, with Class price reductions ranging from 85 to 93 cents per hundredweight. Hear Munch explain at ADC's DAIRY HOT TOPICS Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m. in Wingra Room, second floor Exhibition Hall. Munch will walk us through the winning and losing in the first three months of federal milk pricing changes and help farmers understand the last piece that will be implemented in December. Get the details on this and other hot topics — from milk check transparency and federal pricing changes to workforce policies, animal health challenges, and nutrition rules shaping the future of dairy labeling whole milk in schools and more. This grassroots session dives in. RSVP and details in this email edition: https://conta.cc/3K8xZWX

ADC's DAIRY HOT TOPICS Oct. 2 at World Dairy Expo: https://conta.cc/4p3CnWV

Headlines highlight mounting challenges as net farm income declines. Land O’Lakes CEO Beth Ford warned in a Time op-ed recently, “A Storm is Gathering for American Agriculture.” Her focus was on crop growers — but what about dairy farmers?

That’s the focus of the Dairy Hot Topics session, hosted by the American Dairy Coalition (ADC) during World Dairy Expo on Thursday, Oct. 2. This grassroots program is open to dairy farmers, industry leaders, media, and other Expo attendees who want to get up-to-date on the issues. From milk check transparency, federal milk pricing impacts, and the final FMMO update coming in December, to Ag workforce policies, emerging animal health challenges, and the MAHA Commission reset shaping Dietary Guidelines, FDA dairy labeling, and the future of whole milk in schools — this program covers the policy and market issues that matter for dairy farmers now and into the future.
