We have terrible news. One of our children was shot and killed yesterday in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

His name is Xavier. He was 8 years old. He loved popsicles, sleeping in, and drawing. You could most often find him smiling and hanging out with his sisters.

He was killed in front of them yesterday just around the corner from where these photos were taken. He's in the sleeveless red shirt.

He, his family, and the entire community deserved so much better.

Please don't just send your thoughts today. Please also do something to make our home a place where all of our kids get to grow up.

We're starting our summer leadership academy on Monday!

This week, we've been training our oldest leaders (teens and college students), and they helped us make our annual supply wish list.

You can help us run our program by donating supplies. Here's the list!

Our newest board member is celebrating a birthday today! Ariel Arpadi has been a long time friend of the EEC. Many summers ago, she volunteered to run our multi-school program. Now, she works with children in the St. Louis Public School District.

In addition to it being her birthday, it's also her one year anniversary of joining the EEC as a director. We're so thankful for all of her amazing service, and wish her a super happy day!

Ms. Warren is one of the fantastic teachers at Clay and part of our EEC family! She even helped us with our newer curriculum on emotional understanding for our young leaders this last summer.

Get to know her and the work she is doing at Clay Academy of Exploration and Civics.
