AAB offers two awards to support attendees:

Mike Muzzillo Educational Conference Scholarships: covers some or all of your registration fee. Open to all AAB and CRB attendees.

CRB Diarmaid Douglas-Hamilton Memorial Scholarship Award: two awards to help with expenses like travel, hotel, or registration for the CRB Symposium. Open to AAB/CRB members in good standing.

Surveys and post-event correspondence received in connection with the 2026 CRB Symposium and Workshop and AAB MolDx Symposium overwhelmingly support a return to the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa for the 2027 meetings. The Marriott continues to receive high marks from attendees for service, food, sleeping rooms, and meeting space. The Marriott was able to accommodate CRB and AAB for another year on Tuesday, May 18, through Friday, May 21, 2027. We are excited to be returning to this popular venue for 2027.

On September 14, 2026, CRB submitted comments in response to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS's) July 16, 2026, Request for Information (RFI) regarding potential updates to the Regulations under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA '88).

CRB's response to this RFI may be used to inform CMS and the CDC as to what types of action, if any, should be taken to update the existing CLIA regulations through future notice and comment rulemaking.

Embryologists: Be Certified by a Recognized Board

The American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) is the only certifying board recognized by CLIA that also certifies individuals in embryology. ABB was one of only four certifying boards for laboratory directors recognized in the original CLIA regulations (CLIA '67). ABB is also the only certifying board recognized by state licensing boards that certify individuals in embryology. ABB certification is also recognized by ASRM and two major accrediting agencies: the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and The Joint Commission.

The CRB Diarmaid Douglas-Hamilton Memorial Scholarship Award

The CRB Diarmaid Douglas-Hamilton Memorial Scholarship Award will be presented to two AAB/CRB members to assist with expenses associated with participating in the 2026 CRB Symposium educational program (may include transportation/hotel/meeting registration). Individuals must be an AAB/CRB member in good standing to apply.

Applications had to be submitted by March 8, 2027
Awardees will be notified by March 20, 2027
Open to all CRB attendees

Applicants must complete the online application and attach supporting documentation as applicable. Applications must be submitted by January 23, 2025, to be eligible for the 2025 AAB Conference/CRB Symposium. Awardees will be notified by February 6, 2025.
