Home visits to all the students in the Need-Based Scholarship program continued last week. These visits are a good chance for the C2U Administrator to review the plan with students and their parents and to encourage the kids as they prepare to return to school for term 2!

Another big step towards a self-sustaining community - this back-up generator will guarantee power is always available at the poultry hatchery, the intenet/photocopy shop and at the school in Bubago! It's not the type of project we typically think of, but it's vital for the community's efforts to stand on their own by finding ways to "generate" 🙂 income! We are grateful to dedicated donors who help make this happen.

Joseph is in the C2U Need-Based Scholarship program. His mother makes small pancakes that she sells to earn extra money to help pay for Joseph's school supplies - part of the NBS agreement. We know it is important that parents are financially vested in their child's education and appreciate all the hard work that helps make that happen!

FYI - the pancakes are made with cassava flour, baking soda, sweet bananas, and cooking oil!

These three students (Thabisa, Marion, and NIcholas) were measured for their new school uniforms - thanks to three families willing to support them and their education at Orem Lutheran School! It was an exciting day for these little learners! Their uniforms will be made by the women in the tailoring program of the Far Away Friends group in Bubago.

The women in Orem learned how to make paper beads as part of the Far Away Friend training. When the necklaces and bracelets were complete, they had the very cutest models of the finished products!

Term 2 begins soon for Uganda primary schools and Nicholas and Silas would LOVE to be part of the kids returning to school.

The opportunity to get an education is the very best way for these boys to have a better life. Your monthy or annual donation will make that happen.

Rashida was fixing breakfast (porridge) for her family after they spent the early monring hours digging in their garden. All the students at Bubago Lutheran School work hard during the breaks between terms!

Toys are few and far between in the village of Orem - even simple things like balls, jump ropes, and games. But the kids find their own fun, even if it's rolling a tire around the playing field. Connect to Uganda hopes to provide some new ways for kids at Orem Lutheran Nursery & Primary School to play very soon!
