STUDENT SPOTLIGHT UPDATE: Cam Burle 1st ever Ben Polson Memorial Scholarship Recipient!
Cameron’s junior year at Vianney is coming to a close, which seemed to zip by at breakneck speed. Senior year on the horizon seems impossible, exciting, and somber, all rolled into one.
The year has been one to remember, as Cam settled into his upperclassman role, grew friendships, made new ones, and really embraced the fast-paced college prep curriculum that Vianney is known for. Eleventh grade allowed him to be more in control of his schedule, with more elective courses and flexibility, and this school year more-so than the prior two has seen him flourish, both academically and socially.
Cam’s love of hockey remains stronger than ever. He was again rostered on Vianney’s Varsity team, while also maintaining an extremely busy club schedule, traveling to Boston, Michigan, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Chicago. He led the 16U Central States league in wins, shutouts, least number of losses, save percentage, and GAA, which he was very proud of. He also joined Vianney’s roller hockey team this year for the first time ever and has been having an absolute blast – even scoring his very first hat trick!
A new passion for photography grew this year, as he joined Vianney’s Photography Club and could often be found on the sidelines snapping pics at Vianney’s football, soccer, and JV hockey games. He became a member of the Yearbook class during second semester and is really enjoying learning the technical side of photography, honing his skills in Adobe InDesign and other graphic design programs.
As his third year at Vianney winds down, with finals scheduled for next week and his junior year service project planned for mid-May, where he’ll be helping at a local middle school, it’s impossible not to reflect on the many blessings that have gotten him to this point. He has an unwavering group of supporters behind him, and their encouragement and sincere wish for him to succeed is truly staggering. We pray that Cam’s time at Vianney continues to serve as a humble reminder of the unforgettable legacy that Ben left behind, and we are forever grateful.
