I’ve been pretty quiet since Starboy’s passing. Truthfully, it’s hard to fake a smile when there hasn’t been much to smile about. But as more lives are saved, it hurts a little less each day. Between work and rescue, I haven’t had much time to properly grieve, but I wanted to share some of the lives saved just yesterday.
🐾 Nesta, a black heeler puppy whose litter was being given away in a Walmart parking lot. A no-show adopter ended up being her lucky break, and she’s now safe with one of our fosters.
☕ The Caffeine Litter: Espresso, Mocha, Latte, Matcha, Chai, and Cappuccino. Sadly, several siblings were killed before I could get them to safety. It’s a heartbreaking reminder of why finding a new rescue property is so important.
🐾 Their red heeler mama was tagged for safety late last night and is now safe too. Unfortunately, the litter’s other mom was given away before placement could be secured.
🐾 A sweet beagle mama made a brief pit stop with me before heading to safety.
🐾 Poseidon, a beautiful Catahoula pup, was surrendered when his owner realized they weren’t prepared for puppy life. He’s currently at the vet getting neutered.
🐾 And finally, a tiny street kitten I found yesterday. No name, no confirmed gender, just goopy eyes, a full belly, and a safe place to sleep. After spending over an hour searching for siblings and mom, this little chicken nugget was the only one I found.
That’s multiple puppies, multiple moms, and one tiny kitten safe in a single day. And holy cow, that’s just animals moved yesterday. Not including our open cases.
The problem? We are vetting animals almost daily, and rescue funds are nonexistent. Without donations, I will be forced to close intakes very soon.
If you’d like to help us continue saying “yes” when these animals desperately need us most, please consider donating, sharing our posts, or sponsoring an animal’s vetting.
