Good morning! ☀️

We heard we missed out on black dog/cat appreciation day last week and oh boy do we have plenty of black dog to go around right now! 🐶We have Roni the Rottie mix in front, Evelyn the Lab/Heeler mix adult to the left and 4 black lab puppies- Brick, Bart, Beebo and Bonnie! And we also have Mercy our sweet 5 month old kittie girl. 🐈‍⬛ All are available for adoption! DM us or comment if you’d like more info on anyone!

Black dogs are often said to be the most overlooked dogs in shelters—a phrase well known in the rescue world called Black Dog Syndrome. Some shelter research has found black dogs are roughly 25% less likely to be adopted.

It’s hard out here for black dogs and cats. Help us beat that statistic and adopt the overlooked babies 🖤

It’s a transport day 💃🏼

We didn’t move any Paws and Pastures pups but we DID help out our friends in Arkansas with 2 of their litters and our friends in Minnesota with Hitch the Basset Hound they saved from a Kansas shelter. 12 dogs from my vehicle and about 60 total making their cross country journey today.

I am always honored to be a small part of such a large movement of helping rescue pups get one step closer to hopefully their furever homes. 🐶

If you have ever wanted to help rescue dogs but cannot foster or adopt— transporting is a HUGE need for my rescue. I personally make the drives almost every time unless I can’t get off work and then I’m desperate for help. Gas can be fully reimbursed if needed.

Chance coming on here to tell you guys just how adorable he is 😍 Our friends at Rescue One sent us this video today after his neuter! His sister Mercy was spayed as well so no contributing to the over population for this duo 🤘🏼 We have two fully vetted kittens now looking for their forever home! (They are not bonded so they do not have to go together!)

Mercy is a small girl at just 4lbs! She is very sweet and curious. Her favorite activity is climbing humans like they are ladders. She has mastered her talent 😎 Chance also loves to partake in climbing humans.. However, Chance is 8lbs so he’s getting just a bit big for that baby behavior 🤣 If you are looking for a soul bond kitten I swear these 2 will steal yours! I’ve raised them since they were just one week old and I do not need to keep them. I do NOT need to keep them! They are truly the sweetest babies ever. I think being raised by a human instead of cat mom really made a huge difference with their human bonding.

If you don’t want to adopt but would like to contribute towards their vetting, we would really appreciate your help!!!! Every dollar counts in the rescue world!

Happy Wednesday from Paws & Pastures 🐶🌾

Our banner has arrived and it just doesn’t feel real 🥹 Being in the thick of animal welfare is a really hard place to be but seeing my logo so big is truly a dream come true.

Catch us at Walnut Grove Farmers Market next Tuesday, October 6th from 5-8pm for their Barktober Fest! We will have Tshirts, Hoodies, Hats, Doggie Bandanas, Dog treats and custom Paws & Pastures sugar cookies available with all proceeds benefitting the rescue 💃🏼💃🏼

We will also be at the 14 Mill Market on October 10th for their 2026 Harvest Fest! More details to come for that event!

Meet Dain 🐶

Our dude is a 2x parvo survivor 👊🏻💃🏼 He is about 9 months old now and a solid whopping 30lbs. He’s not going to get too much bigger, probably around 45-50lbs tops! You may be wondering why he still has his junk, he was scheduled for neuter just the very next day after the parvo break in August 😎😎 Don’t worry, our boy is rescheduled for next week!

Dain is a LOVER boy. He loves to be held and loved on. He would thrive in a home with another K9 friend to teach him house manners! Dain has not been around cats or children so he would need structure if either exist in his forever home 🤍

Dain’s adoption fee is $150 and that covers his neuter, rabies, HW test, vaccines, deworming, current tick/flea and HW prevention, and microchip!

Meet Chance and Mercy! 😺

This sweet duo is 5 months old! Chance is the tabby male and Mercy is the black female. They are brother and sister. They were given little to no survival odds by being placed in a cardboard box (assumably a few days old) without their mom on a hotel doorstep. They found their way to us at approximately just 7 days old at less than birth weight 😭 I spent the month of May tending to them every few hours (24 hours a day😍) feeding and stimulating them!

Chance is a BIG boy and Mercy is a petite gal. Mercy was exactly half the weight of Chance at intake and 5 months later, she is still exactly half his weight 🤣

They are available for adoption after their spay/neuter appt on October 1st. They are not bonded however I would love to see them find their forever together 😻 Their adoption fee is $75 each and that covers their spay/neuter, FIV test, deworming, flea/tick preventions, rabies, panluek vaccines, and microchip!

Meet Sable and Hank!

Sable is the black Dutch Shepherd girl (possible Malinois in there!) and Hank is the standard color German Shepherd boy!

Sable is a veryyyy smart girl. Like incredibly smart. She is about 40lbs full grown, a pretty petite gal 💅🏼 She was found roaming Glenstone this summer in over 100 degree weather. After about a hour of strategic chase, Sable was caught! She was extremely shut down and terrified as anyone could imagine and then just a few days later was positive for Parvo 😭 Our girl is a survivor!!! And will be ready for a home of her own after her spay on October 12th!

Hank….. oh Hank. He is about 80lbs of pure GOOF! We aren’t sure there is much of a brain inside that head but for what it’s worth- he absolutely makes up for it in love shown. Hank was a stray found in Lebanon but you would never know he spent time surviving on his own! Hank is fully vetted and available for adoption.

We know this is going to take that special someone but we would love nothing more than to keep this yin and yang pair together forever. They have both made it very clear they do not like being separated.

Their adoption fee is $250 and that includes spay/neuter, vaccines, heartworm negative, up to date HW and tick/flea prevention, dewormed and microchip!

While we are still working hard behind the scenes on the website (running into technical difficulties 😭), we are also working on our link to apply to adopt. For now, please dm us if you think you’d be the perfect fit for Hank and Sable! We may explore separating them but for now they are a 2 for 1 deal!

Hi guys! Late night thoughts here 😅

We are preparing for our first vendor event in just under 2 weeks!!!! 😍 Thanks to our Trails for Tails fundraiser we have funds to get everything we need however I would like to avoid buying brand new white tables to save that money for spays and neuters we currently have scheduled.

With this said, does anyone have (preferably) 2 eight foot tables they would be willing to donate to us? We are trying to keep costs as low as we can to save as much of it towards current vet needs!

Hitch escaped the Kansas shelter and made his Springfield debut today and we are so in love! 😍 This handsome hunk will be a Springfield resident for the next 10 days and then hitch a ride to his foster home with Minnesota Basset Rescue!

We are so blessed to be a partner with some of the best rescues in the North 🐶
