Caring for young children is a demanding job. You're constantly juggling day-to-day events while also trying to meet assessment demands and document everything. It's easy to get lost in the shuffle and forget the most critical tasks: nurturing a child's curiosity and supporting their joy of learning. But how can you maintain your own curious mind and joyful spirit while doing all this?
This isn't just for the classroom—it's for the home, too. Let's work together with ECC to make every moment with our children meaningful.

Join ECC's Community of Practice to learn and grow.

On this day in 1965, Project Head Start was announced as a permanent commitment to supporting young children and families. What began as an eight-week program, would go on to help more than 36 million children learn, grow, and thrive with early education, health, nutrition and family support over the next 60 years.

The generations of children, families, educators, and communities shaped by Head Start and its high-quality program and services are a testament to the lasting impact of investing in children and young families from the very beginning. 💙

Today, as had been expected for months, the administration released its proposed rule modifying the Head Start program performance standards. DEC is in the process of reviewing the proposed rule and will prepare comments in relation to its impact on young children experiencing disabilities and their families. Early indications are that the proposed rule includes policies that weaken services and supports for young children with disabilities. Another strong concern is the reduction of parent leadership. We, alongside the entire EC community, will continue to update the DEC Community on how to support our Head Start partners, the children, the families and the communities they serve.
