ARB Guidelines Revised
for Fences, Lights, Drainage

The Afton Glen HOA Board recently reviewed and approved several revisions and clarifications for the Architectural Review Board (ARB) Guidelines. The newly updated Guidelines, as well as a revised ARB Request for Approval form, can be downloaded on the Afton Glen web site at https://www.aftonglenhoa.com/Afton%20Glen%20ARB%20Handbook%20with%20Revision%20Summary%20and%20Approval%20Form%20January%202026%20final.pdf.

The primary goal of the revisions is to emphasize homeowners' responsibility for ensuring that projects they undertake do not interfere with or encroach on their neighbors' property.

In general, the revised language:

--Requires homeowners to notify all affected neighbors when a project or improvement could affect drainage to adjacent properties, impinge on property lines, or cause stray nuisance lighting directed at neighboring homes.

--Eliminates language regarding "holiday" lights, and instead defines and distinguishes "temporary" lighting versus "permanent" exterior lighting.

--Revises elements of the ARB Request for Approval form to incorporate these changes.

The updated Guidelines at the link given above contain a more detailed summary of the revisions.

!! Trash Collection Only on Mondays !!

At its most recent meeting, the HOA Board approved modifying our trash collection contract with Republic Services to reduce trash pickup to one day per week, instead of two.

As of Monday, June 2, trash will be picked up only on Mondays, with Thursday pickup eliminated. Recycling will continue to be picked up each Monday. A leaflet notification of this change was distributed throughout the neighborhood.

Although this change may involve some inconvenience to us, it will save Afton Glen more than $14,000 per year in trash pickup fees.

At the same time, the HOA is working with Republic to replace old yellow AAA recycling tubs with new recycling containers for homeowners who do not already have them.

You can schedule various special services at our trash hauler's web site, https://www.republicservices.com/.
