"THE EUCHARIST IS MY HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN.”
This week, on October 12, the Church celebrates the feast of Saint Carlo Acutis, a young saint whose life continues to speak powerfully to a generation growing up in a digital world.
Carlo loved computers, sports, friends, and ordinary teenage life. But at the center of everything was Jesus in the Eucharist. This inspiring young Saint is one of the patron saints of the Live Vertical.

From the time of his First Holy Communion, Carlo developed a profound devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. He attended Mass daily whenever possible, spent time in Eucharistic Adoration, and used his gifts with technology to create a website documenting Eucharistic miracles around the world. The Vatican’s account of his life describes his deep Eucharistic devotion and records the words that have become inseparable from his witness:
“The Eucharist is my highway to heaven.”

Carlo understood something that we pray every young person will discover:
Jesus is not distant.
Jesus is not an idea.
Jesus is really present.
And when we place ourselves before Him in the Eucharist, He can transform our lives.
That is why Saint Carlo’s witness connects so beautifully with the mission of Live Vertical.
We walk with young people toward Eucharistic encounter. We help them slow down, enter into prayer, discover the beauty of silence, and recognize Who is waiting for them in the Blessed Sacrament.
Carlo was young enough to understand their world. He knew distractions. He knew technology. He knew what it meant to be surrounded by noise.
Yet he chose to keep returning to Jesus.
Pope Francis described Carlo as someone who was “in love with Jesus and the Eucharist,” reminding young people that Jesus is not simply an idea, but a Person, a Friend and a Companion along the way.

That is the invitation we want every young person to hear:
Come close.
Be still.
Look toward Jesus.
Let Him lead you toward Heaven.

May Saint Carlo Acutis inspire a new generation to fall in love with Jesus in the Eucharist and to use every gift God has given them to lead others to Him.

Saint Carlo Acutis, pray for us.

Life on the Line with Chris Pushaw
This week on Life on the Line, Jeff Siedlecki, Area Director of Live Vertical, shares how his ministry uses guided Eucharistic Adoration, retreats, and outreach in Catholic schools and parishes to help young people build a personal relationship with Christ.

"Life on the Line" covers the week in the pro-life world in the Delaware Valley. It weaves in news, events and prayer to capture the pulse of the Culture of Life in Philadelphia.

JESUS CONCEALED IN THE HOST IS EVERYTHING TO ME.”

This week, on October 5, the Church celebrates Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, the great Apostle of Divine Mercy.
When most people think of Saint Faustina, they think of the image of Divine Mercy and the prayer: Jesus, I trust in You.

But Faustina’s trust in Jesus was deeply rooted in her love for Him in the Eucharist.
She wrote:
“Jesus concealed in the Host is everything to me.”
Saint Faustina, Diary, 1037
What a beautiful profession of faith.

For Faustina, the Eucharist was not simply one devotion among many. It was where she encountered the merciful Heart of Jesus, where she received strength, consolation, peace, and the grace to keep going.
She also wrote: “I spend all my leisure time at the feet of my Master, Who is concealed in the Blessed Sacrament.” Diary, 82
That is a powerful image for all of us.
And it speaks directly to the mission of Live Vertical.
We walk with young people toward Eucharistic encounter so they can discover that Jesus is not distant, abstract, or unavailable.
He is here.

In the Blessed Sacrament, the same Jesus who revealed His mercy to Saint Faustina waits for us with love.

Sometimes a young person enters Adoration carrying questions.
Sometimes hurt.
Sometimes distraction.
Sometimes they do not even know what to say.
And that is okay.
Because Eucharistic Adoration begins with something wonderfully simple:
Come into His presence.
Be still.
Look toward Jesus.
Let Him look at you.

Saint Faustina reminds us that the One before us in the Eucharist is the One we can trust with everything. May her witness help us lead another generation toward the mercy, peace, and love found in the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.

Saint Faustina Kowalska, pray for us.

WHAT CAN A LITTLE FLOWER TEACH US ABOUT THE EUCHARIST?

On October 1, the Church celebrates Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower, one of the most beloved saints of the Church and a Doctor of the Church.

Thérèse lived only 24 years, most of them hidden from the world. Yet behind the walls of the Carmel of Lisieux, she discovered something enormous: we do not have to do extraordinary things to become saints. We simply have to love Jesus extraordinarily well in the ordinary moments of life.

At the very center of that love was the Eucharist.
Pope Benedict XVI wrote that Thérèse made Jesus in the Eucharist the center of her life beginning with her First Holy Communion. For her, the Eucharist revealed the astonishing humility of God, the God of the universe making Himself small enough to come to us under the appearance of bread.

Near the end of her life, Thérèse wrote:
“I cannot fear a God who made himself so small for me! I love him!”
What an incredible way to look at the Eucharist.
The same Jesus whom Thérèse loved is still waiting for us today in the tabernacle and exposed before us in the Blessed Sacrament.
And that is at the heart of Live Vertical.
We walk with young people toward Eucharistic encounter, helping them understand not simply what Adoration is, but Who is there.

The Little Flower reminds us that an encounter with Jesus does not have to be complicated. Sometimes holiness begins by simply coming before Him, looking toward Him with faith, and allowing ourselves to be loved.
A young person sitting quietly before the Blessed Sacrament may look like a very small thing.
But Saint Thérèse built an entire spirituality around small things offered with great love.
Perhaps a few quiet minutes with Jesus can become the beginning of something extraordinary.

Come close. Be still. Let Him love you.
Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, Little Flower and Doctor of the Church, pray for us.

Today we joyfully celebrate the beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, a man whose life and ministry were rooted in a profound love for Jesus in the Eucharist. His faithful daily Holy Hour remains a wonderful example of what it means to Live Vertical, drawing strength from Christ and carrying Him into the world.
